Given that the Nintendo Wii is old and has limitations, it's possible that the project has reached its peak.
I would actually consider where it's currently at as a good stopping point, the OpenGX renderer has issues with priority order and clipping but it generally works for a lot of games and for those that it doesn't, the software renderers are still functional, I would say just fixing the controller issues in regards to the menu that have been introduced would be enough to call it a day.

EDIT: literally 98 percent of games are fully playable flawlessly, that's not a small accomplishment whatsoever and everyone who worked on this should be proud of themselves for putting out a product that outdoes even Sony's own efforts on their own consoles, there's no way to use a lightgun for example on PS4 or PS5! Yet the humble Wii can do it.

Just hopping in to give a tip for anyone else trying to play lightgun games on version 4.5 from the website MeXen recommended https://mundoihack.com/2025/12/01/wiistation-1-0-wisxrx-2022/

If you're running the game and you see no cursor, that's because you're using OpenGX as the GPU Plugin, change it to Old Soft or New Soft (I don't know the difference or which one is better, I assume newsoft is better because it's "new") and you'll get the cursor.

Another thing, reading through the thread apparently Lightrec is better than Dynarec for performance and compatibility? I've been using Dynarec for a while without issues thinking it was the best option, I'll start using Lightrec and maybe it'll be even better. I haven't run into issues with OpenGX yet either, until now.

Yeah you always want to be using lightrec for everything as well as newsoft, you should use oldsoft though for games that actually run at 60fps because newsoft has framepacing issues and can't actually keep a totally stable 59.94 framerate for some reason. So basically the play is lightrec+newsoft for everything unless it's a fighting game or shmup in which case use either lightrec+oldsoft or lightrec+opengx. Thank God Wiistation allows you to have seperate configs for games because this can get very confusing very fast!

Hi! I'm pretty lost in here.

How can i make channel WADS of WiiStation games?

I've seen others make some but don't know how to do it.

The channel WAD would just technically auto boot your PS1 game

Generally, You need:
1. A donor WAD to create the forwarder from. This might be another forwarder WAD, and you’ll just replace the channel cover/icon and the internal forwarder DOL.
2. The actual forwarder DOL to inject into your donor WAD. You create this forwarder DOL with ModMii and then inject it into your WAD. When you launch that WAD from the Wii Home Screen, it will point to the path you specified in modmii’s forwarder DOL creation process (eg apps/GAMENAME/boot.dol)
3. The meta.xml for Wiistation pointing to the rom directory, along with Wiistation being property setup on your Wii.
4. Your clean, functioning backup at the directory listed in you meta.xml

Thank you very much! I'll try it

UGH, not this again, people got that piss whiny attitude 3 years ago when it started and that was the biggest roadblock at the time, back when Wiistation was just a slightly fixed version of WiiSXRX with slightly less DSI stackdumps and games running at 15% speed.

Does anyone know´s if theres a way for Dance Dance Revolution soft pads to work through a PS2 adapter?. I have been making some tests, and although a normal Dual Shock 2 does works very well as a HID controller, i dont get any response from my soft pad.

If you have a Wii with gamecube ports, I would try getting a cheap PS2-to-GC adapter and using the softpad on that instead of over USB HID.

It really is incredible how the Wii went from having just an okay PS1 emulator to probably the best PS1 emulator of any homebrewed console, even surpassing what Bleemcast did with hardware acceleration. Just the added analog controller, mouse, guncon, and multitap support alone make it better than even Sony's own official PS1 emulation on their consoles. Incredible stuff from everyone who contributed.

Wasn't Lightrec the main responsible for the speed improvements?

Lightrec massively increased performance but also the introduction of interlaced rendering was a massive speedboost for the games that used it like Tekken 3 and Bloody Roar 2. OpenGX was an even bigger speedboost to emulation thanks to finally using the Wii GPU to render graphics instead of rendering everything on the CPU, although it's not a full replacement for software rendering and never will be due to the amount of framebuffer effects on some games that need software rendering to replicate.

What's the latest and greatest most recommended build and where do I get it?

not sure exactly which version is recommended, but i think this is where i found the latest version: https://mundoihack.com/2025/12/01/wiistation-1-0-wisxrx-2022/

weird thing is when i first downloaded it it came with the wii forwarder wad. i moved some files around so i went back for a fresh dl today and the forwarder is gone. it's not a big deal since one can be found elsewhere, i just wanted to confirm i had the right one.

edit: hey like i said, no big deal! pretty sure that same forwarder (saulfabreg's) is in his post:
still i swear it was part of that 4.5 package before..

I started playing Mega man Legends 2 today with the OpenGX plugin and the map is Bigger than what it is suppose to be, using the other plugins fixes the issue but opengx makes the game look a lot better

I attempted to build the latest version but just getting devkitppc 41-2 to build is rough. The build scripts for it are completely out of date and busted.

Yes, the actual gameshark/action replay isos work as intended with the "Swap CD" function.
Hmm, I've tried a few versions of ActionReplay, but I just get a black screen and then have to press the Wii's reset button.

Then I tried GameShark v5; it starts up normally, but unfortunately it still doesn't work.
Maybe I do something wrong?
I launch GameShark and select the cheats, then go to “Start with Cheats,” press the Home button, and go to “Current ISO” and “Swap CD,” where I select the game's ISO. Then I go to “Resume Game” and am back in GameShark, where I confirm that the game CD is inserted, and then it freezes while booting the game and I can't do anything else. When I press the Wii’s reset button, I end up back at WiiStation. There, the name and id of the game are displayed on the left, but as soon as I go back to "Resume Game", WiiStation freezes again and I have to press the reset button on the Wii again...
