Shenmue is making a comeback with the upcoming launch of Shenmue III Enhanced. While this news was announced last year, ININ Games today announced that pre-orders for the game is now live. For the occasion, a trailer was aired, which shows the first footage of the Enhanced game and includes a message from series creator, Yu Suzuki:

This version comes with the following enhancements:
  • Enhanced Graphics & Performance – Sharper textures, richer details, faster load times, and smoother gameplay.
  • 4K Texture Uplift – Refined, more detailed environments and characters.
  • DLSS/FSR Support – High-quality upscaling without sacrificing performance
  • Increased NPC Density – The city village Niaowu feels more alive with more characters populating the streets.
  • Classic Camera Mode – An optional camera perspective inspired by Shenmue I & II, alongside the modern view.
  • Gameplay Tweaks – Optional stamina system adjustments, health restoration before fights, and reduced money barriers for smoother progression.
  • Improved Interactions – Cutscene and conversation skip options, expanded QTE timing window for more accessible gameplay.
  • Menu & UX Enhancements – Streamlined navigation and helpful purchase alerts.
  • Optionality First – All major changes can be toggled to preserve the original experience for purists.

Feels strange not seeing the SEGA logo as it is Shenmue.
Well maybe not a logo, but still mentioned in the copyright.

Honestly didn't expect this, (Maybe the nintendo switch 2 port) but like is there going to be a next game? Cause it just seems redundant to "Enhance" these games. I mean there is "Enhancements" but the playstation 4 & xbox one versions are still playable on their successors. Could just updated those instead of treating it like a seperate release. :ninja:

Good cause the original Shemue 3 played way worse that the first two games.

That being said the Shemue creator doesn't plan to end the quite plain story any time soon while refusing to move to a format that would actually let him finish the story before he dies like a Web Novel, Light Novel or Novel or even a manga at the very least.

It's really weird as someone who loved Shenmue on the Dreamcast and got mostly through Shenmue 2 on the Xbox, and was initially really pleased to see Shenmue 3 announced way back when, I'm honestly just exhausted. They really should have set themselves on wrapping the series up.

Shenmue 3 was really bad. Just horrible! And this is coming from a long time Shenmue fan. It didn't continue the story, thus being a complete waste of time. And more importantly, it got rid of all the supernatural elements that made the series interesting.

i soooooo hate when that happens.
i buy shenmue 1 through 3, i think im set for the best experience possible, maybe some mods in the mix and im GOOD right?

nope... an improved version comes along and now i can just toss what i already have in the garbage and give them more of my money!

and we STILL have no ending to Shenmue either

EDIT:

Well its still their IP.

Sad that they never follow up with the rest of the story. I still remember the hype: It was going to be a 6 or 7 game length story (LOL!).
i guess that idea was transported to the Yakuza series (also excellent games)

Well yakuza is more... "Fun" since it plays more like a video game. Shenmue feels more like a interactive story, almost like those old pc adventure games where you interacted with stuff on screen to trigger events. Except shenmue has you talking to so many people just to find where to go next like a detective. Meanwhile yakuza just plays like a video game with a plot.

I spent more time at the arcade in shenmue playing sega games than looking for Lan-Di. But I didn't spend as much time at the arcades in yakuza (Even when they had more variety) :ninja:
