nice work youve mentiont on nexus there are higher res packs in storage
where i can get those? and how far could you push the res on this old game?
Thanks. I didn't saw it or would have shared the drive. Problem now out of respect I'll wait at least one year due respect our of the remasters. I mean "probably" my textures " 1024p as I settled with 4x will instantly work with the remaster, replacing them. So I'll not be sharing for the time being but I'll buy it only to experiment with it locally here as I do want to see what it would have looked like if that matrix wasn't so complicated per room... As for the max resolution the original game can be pushed 256p it's original, hard coded, no way out. Good things for being stuck with 256p for years, I've managed to perfect the originals in all aspects. The fewer glitches VX has its because it's but a rushed downscaling of it's source... So for the time come it's no deal, they must be already dealing with the fans getting used to, RGTI on the horizon I can foreseen concepts, the original textures upscaled randomly poping up trough out coms wouldn't help... Probably OTHERS will be doing it already anyway but I don't think they have the leather patience to do it seamless...

The official remasters already use both AI upscaling and generation, so it has already been disrespected. More AI will do no harm :(

I have abandoned Legacy of Kain. It’s heartbreaking to see such beautiful games undermined by AI, especially when the very fans who claim to stand against it seem indifferent. The hypocrisy in that stance is deeply frustrating. Protecting the integrity of art requires consistency and genuine care, things the remasters lack of. Current Legacy of Kain is not art anymore, it's garbage, it deserves no respect.

Yeah i hitted that hardcoded wall too tried even the beta textures wich are 256p and iirc the release version are just 168p but the release game wont take even the beta textures like you said popping textures + most where missing or only viewable in the right angle

thats y? i wondered about your higher res textures but yeah now the remasters are out maybe i look into it depends on how high i can get the resolution with the remasters engine
 
I know this is old, but ive started doing a remaster of this, hoping to add more detail than the official remaster (minus it replacing models).

But this is going to be one of the hardest and longest to do, this game when dumping textures has a shed load of mip textures.

Just the opening section where Raziel first meets mobius was over 3,000 textures.

From first meeting Kain at the pillars to the dark reaver chamber is about 30,000 textures.

I will do my best to do a good job on this game as the series is one of my faves, but when it has multiple versions of the same textures that get smaller and smaller and are that tiny its literally just a color block..... it be impossible to identify what its supposed to be.

And these arent just the mip textures... as they get smaller, theyll too have about 6 mip versions for each texture.

I get due to PS2 hardware it would need this so it has less strain.... but I think for a true remaster and having better hardware, all textures can be equal so you dont see it popping or changing as you get closer to let's say a wall.

Ive added an early WIP example of the intro part where Raziel first talks with Mobius.... this was added a week or so ago. So changes have been done since then.

Ill be uploading another video once ive done the beginning section in the stronghold and release a demo so people can get a feel of what to expect.

Then it'll be released once fully remastered (YouTube will get updated as usual with progress updates).
