I found some weird Nintendo systems that all (except one) share the mng.nintendo.net subdomain and essentially have nothing but a login page requiring a "Nintendo Developer ID".

Examples include:
- live.bcat.mng.nintendo.net
- boss.mng.nintendo.net
- webapp.bmas2.srv.nintendo.net
- ncms3.mng.nintendo.net

Does anyone know what they're all about? Are they like internal Nintendo websites? What actually is a Nintendo Developer ID and how does one get one?

Multi Nipple Gaming.

...no, idk, but if you find the main Nintendo developer portal you can register a developer id. It was pretty straightforward from that point to apply for basic dev access for Wii U and 3DS, but they've been a lot more picky about who they allow to develop for Switch 1 and I imagine that has continued with Switch 2.

Google AI answer:

mng.nintendo.net
is a domain primarily used by Nintendo for managing backend services, network connectivity checks, and, historically, for managing Nintendo Network connections for the Wii U and 3DS systems. It acts as a server for system-level functions rather than direct user-facing content.

Key details regarding this domain include:

  • System Connectivity: It is frequently pinged by Nintendo devices to verify internet connectivity and manage network-related settings.
  • Legacy System Support: It was heavily involved in the infrastructure for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U,, which had their main online services shut down in April 2024.
  • Backend Operations: It facilitates communication with Nintendo servers for system software updates and, potentially, analytics.
In short, it is a backend infrastructure domain essential for the operation of Nintendo network services and device connectivity.
