Why PAL?
Though I grew up on Hot Shots Golf Fore (USA), I chose the PAL version for this project because:
- It includes more characters
- It had the only stable widescreen patch when I began the project
Compatibility Notes
This pack works on both Nethersx2 (Android) and PCSX2 (PC).
However:
- PCSX2 and Nethersx2 dump textures differently
- As a result, you cannot mix and match from PCSX2 to Nethersx2
- I dumped all 135,000 textures using Nethersx2 on my Odin2 Portal (it dumps moving files as hundreds of broken garbled textures) and parsed through them all to find the ~10K in this pack.
- This is because PCSX2 accepts Nethersx2-format textures, but Android cannot use PCSX2-dumped files
- Upscaled them on PC using Topaz Gigapixel AI
What’s Included (Upscaled and Complete)
- All courses (with seasonal variants)
- All clubs and balls
- All base characters outfits + base hardmode outfits
- All caddies and outfits
- Almost all loading screens
- Almost all UI and in-game text
- All major menus (course/tourney select, shop, character select, data, options, load/save)
What’s Missing / Needed
Not Included
- Spectator gallery — too low-res to upscale cleanly; results were disturbing. Would need to be redrawn manually.
Missing or Incomplete (Need a Save File)
- Loyalty outfits: Only Doggy, Aya, and Suzuki are included. Need the rest.
- Loading screens: If you have them all unlocked under Data, please send your save.
- Albatross / Hole in One icons: These are large in-game pop-ups. A save file with these recorded will help.
Textures I Still Need (No Save File Required)
If you’ve dumped textures from Nethersx2, please share:
- Versus mode portraits: Original and hardmode full-body versions
- Bogey number icons: I currently have +4 and +6. Need others (+5, +7, etc.)
Known Issues
- Shadow layer bug: Shadows may render over the swing bar or UI (emulation issue).
To help visibility, I re-textured the swing bar yellow.

- Overbright textures: Some metal and window textures appear too bright (especially near tees). I reverted some to their originals. One known issue still in the game: metal tee pandas.
- Texture glitches:
- Character icons on boot may appear broken — emulator bug
- Options menu may flicker — also emulator-related
Performance Tips
If your game isn’t running well, try this:
Graphics Settings
- Hardware Download Mode → Disable Readbacks
- Enable Manual Hardware Fixes
- Disable Depth Emulation
- Enable Use Software Renderer for FMVs (prevents flickering videos)
- Swap X and O if you prefer X to swing
How to Install
- Download the replacements folder (this is the texture pack)
- Extract it to your emulator’s texture folder
- Optional: Download the dumps folder (raw textures for reference)
- Some early UI/menu files may be missing
