    I've been using the "2000mAh" DS Lite battery from Dealextreme for a year already, no problems. It's nowhere near 2000mAh though, closer to 1000mAh now which is what the official battery is, the maximum charge has died a bit since I bought it. No complaints. Though I probably got lucky.

    It's more than likely you ribbon cables aren't connected properly. Check them again, take them out and put them in. If it still doesn't work then your ribbon cable's damaged. Need to get a new screen.

    Error checking is using chkdsk I think... in dos/command prompt: chkdsk /f x: where x: is the drive letter. It'll fix up any file corruptions, keep in mind if a file is corrupted beyond repair, it won't be able to recover it.
