    The only problem with that is that it does not lock up when you select a card. As I mentioned, I can select all of my cards and read all of their descriptions without locking up. Its when I actually leave the menu that the game gets stuck at a black screen.

    I fully translated the Item.txt and Skill.txt in the scripts folder and left the .dat files alone and everything seems to be fully translated in the game. So as far as I can tell, you do not need to do anything with the .dat files.
