I don't know about the old red button cart.
But with the new blue one the procedure is simple, just press the blue button, let the next game show on the screen and then eject the cart, there's no need to over complicate it.
Yes it does work, but another idea would be to just have the game twice, on two separate SD cards, that way you wouldn't need a PC every time you wanted to swap between your save and your sons.
Yes 64 and 128gb are supported but given that games are generally around 1gb or less and you can only put 31 games on each SD, they are somewhat overkill.
Yeah what the other guy illuded to is true. The only thing I've had issues with was when I changed SD cards the saves of the game I was playing disappeared. So you need to get into the habbit of changing the game (i.e pressing the blue button) after you're done playing with it.
