    Thanks everyone. Got in touch with a shop that does shell replacements. Might as well send it to people who have the right tools. And lesson learned, don't go to cheap ass shops.     I assumed the padding was to help the module make contact with the motherboard... Does that part heat up that much?

    This problem might have been caused by improperly placed thermal paste at the time. I suspect the area overheated when I placed paste too thick. I'll wait for the repairman to finish his job then reapply minimal thermal paste only. Could heat be a cause of this issue?
