    Hacking SDHC support

Not sure if many have noticed, but the new Homebrew channel beta9 has SDHC support. The libogc CVS has been updated with Marcan's patch for SDHC support. This could turn out to be very interesting for integrating it in a backup loader

    Hacking EHCI IOS module

Sorry but I doubt anyone here believes you will create a working USB 2.0 driver. If you come here to ask for help, then you're in the wrong place - gbatemp is not a programming place, or even an intellectual place. Asking for others to help you, makes it look like you don't quite know how to...

    Hacking EHCI IOS module

Once USB 2.0 drivers are ready (ie mass storage and filesystem driver), reworking the custom DVD IOS module used in the current backup loader for USB harddrive support is very straightforward and easy.

    Hacking '3x' drive speed.

The main compatibility problem with Waninkoko's (and Wiigator's) backup loader is that all games are forced to use IOS36 (a hacked one, saved under a different number). Some games can't accept that (ie, they want IOS21 or some other version) and fail to load.

    No, don't be so paranoid.

    Hacking '3x' drive speed.

The "firmware" you are talking about, attached to the update partition of a game, simply contains system files such as IOS, channels, etc but it is not related to the DVD firmware at all. "its all possible in theory" ? Please get your theory straight first.

    Hacking '3x' drive speed.

The 3x speed is a limitation of the DVD drive firmware, as it sets this speed as the maximum when you are dealing with the DVD video mode. The Wii DVD drive firmware is writable, ie by sending the debug commands. However, the Wii system hardware blocks this specific type of command from leaving...

Hacking Wii Hard drive iso loader in action

    I support you.

    Hacking '3x' drive speed.

When the DVD firmware identifies a video DVD it sets the maximum read speed to 3x. This does not happen for a real Wii disc. That makes it a hardware limitation.

    Hacking '3x' drive speed.

There is no way around the 3x read speed in with the DVD in video mode. The only other consideration is using a different medium than DVD to load backups from, such as USB or maybe SD.

    Hacking Wii backup loader......looks real!

The fix would be to simply stop all homebrew code from running, like they tried with system update 3.3. Nintendo will fix it, and stop all homebrew, don't you worry. It's up to you to not install the updates or you will receive this fix eventually .

    Hacking Wii backup loader......looks real!

This thread is getting too much noise. Anyway, it looks to me Waninkoko took the easy way out by having to patch ISO's in an easy to read format. For a proof of concept, it's definitely a good way to start. Before people start distributing these patched ISO's and whatnot, it should be noted...

Hacking Wii Chips still worth it?

That would be the DVD library recently released. It can read data from burned DVD-R's without a chip - perfect for a ISO loader. Bushing couldn't keep it closed forever as people were figuring it out on their own, such as Waninkoko.

Hacking THERE IS NO WAY TO PLAY BACKUPS WITHOUT A MODCHIP

I think it is more correct to say "THERE IS NO WAY TO PLAY BACKUPS WITHOUT A MODCHIP ... yet". It is going to happen eventually. Here's what's going to come in a couple months from now: - Ability to play backups from DVD without modchip - Ability to play backups from USB, SD or WiFi without...

Hacking On the ability to play backups without drive chip

I edited a DI IOS module elf, and I am working rewriting the DI module entirely with custom code.
