    You don't have to downgrade too it's possible to flash from 4.*ofw to a 4.*cfw i do that on my ps3 slim who can't be downgraded to 3.55 because it's min ver is 3.6. And it's not so risky if you have a good dump.

    Actually it's possible to install a cfw on a ps3 with higher than 3.55ofw, you just need a nand flasher...

    Because screen size is fixed in the firmware, to change it you need to edit the firmware, it's not just a setting. The firmware is encrypted so you need to know the key used by nintendo, decrypt it edit the screen size, encrypt it again and flash you custom firmware... It's not an easy task.

    Nintendo will never brick a 3ds in europe (i don't know for asia / america), why? Because when you buy a hardware (the 3ds), it became your hardware if nintendo brick it you can complaint at a court (sorry for my bad english i'm french...).
