    Thank you all for the help guys. I didn't run diagnostics, but I did start the cartridge in classic mode. From that excerpt above, it seems that's why the save was wiped, as ZLBW uses KeyY saves.

    If your Wii is new (this or last month), chances are it has the new D3-2 drive, which will not read backup games. The only way now is to use a USB loader.
