Hardware Nintendo switch - no power - goes to 15V 0.49A direclty

@needles, it's been a couple years and this still seems to be a common problem. Have you learned any new tricks on sourcing the issue? It's pretty interesting to see this behavior when all the charging ICs seem to check out (no shorts, good resistance), but get super hot when plugging in, even...

    Nintendo Switch - 15V 0A draw

So what happened with this one?

Charging but no boot - HOT 8316 IC

Yeah, the 8316 gets scorching hot as long as the battery installed. My guess is that it’s trying to boot since the battery is in and then usb plugged in. It doesn’t get hot without the battery, but I imagine it’s probably not trying to boot. Where in particular would you recommend I check for...

Charging but no boot - HOT 8316 IC

Hi everyone, I'm working on a Switch Lite where the seller wasn't honest about the condition and it's turned into a mystery for me. It seems to charge with 15.3V and 0.09A drawing, but nothing else happens. No other signs of life. I replaced a shorted M92 and backlight IC and I don't have much...

DAT0 adapter as failed kamikaze repair?

I saw a foreign video on YouTube where it appeared that a DAT0 under-chip adapter was used after the DAT0 connection was severed from a failed kamikaze attempt. Does anyone know if this is an actual working solution for when the trace got cut from kamikaze scaping?

Disc drive Error, believed to be the motherboard?

I've got nearly the same issue currently. Did you ever find a resolution?

"an error has occurred" for disc and USB games

My old faithful Wii is no longer launching games and I'm not sure what's going on. When I insert a disc, once it appears to have read the disc, I get a full screen generic error stating "An error has occurred." The same happens when trying to launch a game from my external hard drive. I'm really...

    Opinion on "picofly oled lite"

I appreciate the response! You just been getting the instinct v6 (any v6s experience?) from Ali?

    hwfly snowball disaster

I replaced the MAX77812 and the shorts are still there. I get 15.3V and 0.13A on usb connected with or without the battery plugged into the board. I'm out of ideas and really not sure what to check next. 1725136618 These are the new shorts around the other side of the board surrounding MAX77620H...

    Opinion on "picofly oled lite"

On a whim I bought a few OLED-compatible chips titled, "Picofly OLED Lite V2 OLED V6 Chip OLED Mod Chip Suitable for Raspberry Pi DIY," from eBay (these same ones are on Ali too). 2/3 installs were flawless and worked great. The third was a disaster I wrote about here. I'm curious if anyone...

    hwfly snowball disaster

Thank you, that's helpful and hopeful. I did reflow the emmc earlier today but I'm waiting for a replacement max77812 (I don't have a reflow template for that chip...) so I can't test further until I get that back in. I've found after reading a bit that there are quite a few reports of issues...

    hwfly snowball disaster

This was about my 10th hwfly install and my first time running into a major issue. I'm honestly not sure at all what happened, but here's the order of what I witnessed today. Switch OLED, modded and working last week with hwfly v6 kit using the under-chip DAT0 adapter. Everything worked great...

    Help identifying hwfly clone

Me too! That was another cause for concern over even attempting to replace the firmware. I was expecting a picoboot firmware but when I installed it and booted up for the first time it was (and still is) spacecraft.

    Help identifying hwfly clone

Speculation, really. Is there any way to know the legitimacy of the chip itself? What prompted my curiosity about it was seeing posts like this one on Reddit: /r/SwitchPirates/comments/17ek1u2/a_warning_about_updating_hwfly_clone_chips_rp2040/ I didn’t buy mine on aliexpress, but I did get it...
