Whats the fastest 8GB card you can buy today

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820171311

I was looking at this simply because the price is fantastic I think but I don't think its a high speed card.

I want something that wont slow down playing nice games like GTA and God of War.

Either a nice fast 8GB or a couple of fast 4gb cards will be fine.

Any help would be great!

(I have looked around at the memory card threads around here but did not really find an answer)

GTA and GoW wont be slowed down if you play the plain ISO. All other games ive played can be compessed though.

So what are the best 4gb cards, I can just buy 2 and load them both with games and just switch them out with no problem right?

Oh well, I don't want to sound like a sleazeball but I'm not really worried about price.

I have seen good thing about the Lexar 4GB Platinum II's and they are 35 at Fry's right now, I might get 3 of them... are these as good as everybody says they are?

Have a look at this thread. The Sandisk 8GB tested great in the read test, which is the most important factor.

The Lexar and Sony were roughly 2/3 the speed of the Sandisk which is probably adequate.

Personally I prefer 1 8GB instead of 2 4GB ones because I don't want to take the MS Pro Duo's out often (or not at all if possible). Yeah, I'm scared the plastic holder will wear out.

Well I just bought 2 of the 4GB Lexar Platinum II's and 1 of the 1GB Lexar Platinum II's to make the magic memory stick with.

Total with 2day delivery from Fry's was $101.56

We typically don't recommend buying 8GB sticks because of their speed. They will work, though.

I haven't seen an 8GB bench above 13Mb/s max.

do you know what the actual minimum 32k read speed is for playback

Nfrederick, I was just going to tell you to do that, buy the two Lexar 4 gigs. I carry around my two 4 gigs and 1 gig MMS in my PSP case, and it works out perfectly. And I dont have to worry about sacrificing speed. If Fry's is still doing the rebate which I got a couple days ago, you should be basically getting those two 4 gigs for 40 bucks total! Make sure you follow the rebate directions carefully, save your box, etc.

The rebate thing ended today, and the price is back to 40$ so that wouldn't work :S
