From IGN:

"THQ and Games Workshop have revealed that popular table-top sci-fi game Warhammer 40,000 is set to be turned into a turn-based strategy title for Nintendo DS, complete with online play.

Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command sees you jumping into the metallic boots of an elite Space Marine to stamp out the evil and daemonic forces of the Chaos Space Marines through 13 different missions. The single-player takes place on fully destructible, real-time 3D battlefields which means that no two battles are the same, according to THQ.

Alongside the single-player is an online multiplayer with nine unique missions and you can choose if you want to play as the heroic Space Marines or the wicked Chaos Space Marines. You then get to team up with others in head-to-head matches with up to eight players over small, medium or large maps.

Fans of Warhammer 40,000 are likely to be delighted to hear that Squad Command features more than 20 ranged and close combat weapons taken directly from the sci-fi universe of Warhammer, including the Bolter, Plasma Gun, Chainsword and Power Fist.

Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command is currently only slated for 2007."

Not really into Warhammer 40,000 but it does sound like a follow up to the excellent N-Gage version that appeared a while back. Being on a better handheld plus touch screen commands and online, this could be even better and an excellent addition to the strategy genre on the DS. Its also heading to the PSP as well.

Didnt know about warhammer until i played the PC version of its RTS, one of the best ive played next to Company of heroes.

Is this going to be 3d on ds as well as psp?

I think that the 2d would be better, because 3d can't look good on ds...

Wut happened to the other 39,999?

Why only Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines, I wonder. What about Orks and Eldar? There has even been Orks and Eldar in the Ngage version.

Bleah, i hate 3D games on DS. Why do they insist making 3d games, when 2d games can look so beautiful (Children of Mana for example).

Read a little closer lol. And 3D can look good on the DS as long as the developer doesn't do it half assed

I agree. Animal Crossing looks nice, as does the 3D views on Hotel Dusk and Another Code. It's all down to the developer. But I agree that 2D games often look just as nice, if not nicer...

They’re turning an excellent RTS into a turn-based strategy again? They screwed up AOE the same way, why do they keep doing this? Warhammer is one of the best RTS games out there they should leave it as an RTS.

This sounds like a great idea, I don't like how the PC games are RTS when the actual game is turn based. I hope this is more like the actual table-top game.
