The Edge of the Forum
"Testing Area" to retire, but lulz to live another day

Hands up who likes the Testing Area? Now, hands up who doesn't like the Testing Area? I've got good news for all of you (and the one guy who does like it). From today, "that" board will no longer be known as the Testing Area - from now on, all the random silliness and fun & games will now belong at The Edge of the Forum, or "EOF" for short.

Why? The Testing Area originally started out as -- shock horror -- a board where members could actually test things such as signatures, avatars, bbcode etc... But because members could try and get away with posting sillier and sillier topics, claiming them as honest testing topics to the ever vigilant staff, the board shortly became home to a whole realm of "special" topics, where Tempers could create threads with games and inane discussion that could reach (and have!) hundreds of pages in length.

The staff realise that this is a very active and unique forum, and so we have decided to make it its own. But we are also aware that some people would rather steer clear of it, but find it hard to do so because of the topics being included in the Latest Discussions Box - so now, we have separated the EOF (ex. Testing Area) topics into their own tab in the Latest Discussions Box. This helps those who want to steer clear, avoid those topics, yet gives those who want to check up on all the latest shenanigans quick and painless access.

Just as the Testing Area wasn't, the EOF will not be free from moderation - the usual forum rules still apply, and any topic or post we deem unsuitable will be removed. Just because your post count does not go up, does not mean you can make as many useless topics as you like. So please, think of the server before declaring your love for poo, because quite frankly; no-one cares, and it's not worth the server resources it takes up.

So if you're feeling brave, you may want to check out the Edge of the Forum - you never know, you may enjoy it.

But you know, if you ever genuinely want to test something, there is now a dedicated thread that is for testing only. You can find it pinned in the Edge of the Forum.

that's all you had to do !!!

I think this could work out well. I predict an immediate spike in stupidity, seeing as the EOF is so new and trendy at the moment and everyone will flock there and test the limits, but this should settle over time if moderation steps up to the plate and defines the lines clearly.

None the less, it's a step in the right direction.
