Do you guys think its going to be like GTA advance where its just a birds eye view or maybe its 3d like the console versions.

if anyone got a video or a screen shot i would love to see it

Which doesn't mean much

The original GTA on PC had '3D elements'.

as long as it is playable and looks decent,
I'll be pretty happy.

I wouldn't mind a port of the original PC GTA...

I wouldn't be bothered if it didn't look anything like GTA3. All I need is a version similar to the PC version of GTA2 with city-wide wireless multiplayer and I'd be happy.

signed. GTA2 on the DS would be pretty awesome I think. running with the dpad, aiming with the stylus etc. Could work ^^

Man i remember the days of playing GTA 1/2 on my crappy PC and having a blast with my friends. I'd rather have a birds eye view GTA than a full 3D GTA for DS. I think it'd work better with the stylus.

With a name like Chinatown Wars it seems like the game will be focused on a gimmick and not actually be on the same genre as console GTAs, yeah, the developers said free-roaming but that doesn't really mean it'll have the gameplay of 3D (or even 2D) GTAs.

Let's just hope it's something good.

It is possible look at the new homebrew called sonic.. The 3d graphics in that are amazing.. They could do it.. If they felt like it but.. I HOPE THEY DO..

I'm hoping for a non-top down view... Sorry but I just couldn't get into those games... GTAIII is my fav out of the ones that I have played and I'm hoping that maybe, just maybe the graphics could be decent 3D...

Considering the modeling the system can do I'd expect a block or two draw distance Liberty City but scaled down some, fewer people on the street (no mobs), and some cars. The system can do things like PSX and N64 could so it's possible to create a pretty large place with a ton of moving lower polygon objects...draw distance vs frame rate will be the ultimate issue.

GTA Advance was fantastic in that it was GTA3's City copied into a top down view whereas the entire building/terrain structure were all 3D textured (and some animated) polgyons and all moving objects (cars, bullets, fire, people, random blood spatter, etc...all sprites. Given the difference in what the GBA and DS can do they're going to have to go well beyond the quality that title has or people will be pissed.

Can't say I follow your train of thought. What possible gimmick could hinge on the name "Chinatown Wars"?

He doesn't understand that, since it's not a series number, it needs a subtitle. An extention the name to him must mean gimmick, like "Shake It!" or "Galaxy" or "Twisted".

All I know is, if R* throws into this game a secret like "Hot Coffee," Nintendo will shit a brick...then they'll start counting all the cash they rake in from their licensing royalties from all the games CW will sell. If they're smart, R* will put something controversial in the game...and they likely will. It's always been their bread and butter, though it's kind of lost its shock value these days. Still, on a Nintendo system, it would sell games.
