Can't wait to play the WiiU port as the PC version for some unknown reason runs like shit on my PC yet far more demanding games run with zero issues
It is the DRM, it is better to play it by alternative means for this reason alone.

Beautiful.

I wish @JustJay was still around and this thread here https://gbatemp.net/threads/sonic-mania-on-wii-u-and-genesis-vc-console-on-wii-u.583535/ were still open so I could shove this all in his dumb face. He was talking down to me when I objected to his claim that Sonic Mania could never come to the Wii U, when i said it feasibly could, if it were to ever be decompiled. I did say not to hold their breath to the OP on the prospect, but in that regard I appear to be wrong to hav suggested that even.
Heh, reminds me of the good old days before Dios Mios and Nintendont when if you so much mention the idea of running Gamecube games on the Wii via USB you’d get attacked hard, a similar situation happened with the Nintendo DS running GBA Roms from Slot-1, both of which have been possible for over a decade.

Guys, they ported Friday Night Funkin to the Playstation which can run on a PSP/PS Vita, they made a Dreamcast emulator for the PS Vita and another one for the freakin PSP, anything’s possible (within reason) if the devs put enough time and work into it, this toxic mentality of shutting suggestions down “a Saturn/Dreamcast emulator is impossible on the Wii U) need to extinct.

Now we await as the inevitable Streets of Rage Remake decompilation finally happens, or better yet, Sonic Adventure Decompilation with Mods support.

The sonic mania game isn't the problem here because the game could be feasible on the Wii U.

The real deal is to create a RSDKv5 interpreter for it because being the "sdk" used to develop the game it runs above that in reality.

And the best part is that RSDKv5 it's just like the previous ones, entirely software rendered.

https://github.com/Rubberduckycooly/RSDK-Reverse

Note that the Opensonic for Dreamcast was made using the RSDKv1 years ago.

Is the port already working?

Last time I checked it on Twitter it was almost complete, only the special stages lagged a little and needed some time to finish.

I remember that post lol also im guessing it'll be DLC-free if the actual port works?

My understanding is that the decomp can work with or without the Mania Plus additional content. I dunno if that holds true for the Wii U (I would assume it should), but in general I've heard this content can work in the decomp if you have it.

Well, that was kinda the whole point of the video tweeted by the dev in charge, besides showing it running, to answer that.

Correct. EDIT: check the livestream where you can see his builds running.

Nice!

I guess the chances for a PS3 port are very low to none? It'd be kinda funny to see Mania on every console possible. heh
As feasible as the eventual Wii port. But you gotta have interested parties to see that. Or pay a bounty, which tends to help speed things up.

The dev is streaming current progress right now, for those interested. Special stage is now faster and more enjoyable.

I compiled it with cmake, make, and vs 2022, and all three gave me a dll file at the end. not sure what I'm supposed to do with that unless it's simply not ready.

I mean... it's quite obvious why it didn't work, that fork only has one commit from that person that adds 4 lines of code to a single file, and that's it.
