my francophone Canadian friends do not like being called "fake french". In return, I've been taught a lot of french curse-words. It's all in good fun, they can be as french as they'd like; they have the language and culture in Quebec.

I'd imagine it infuriates french-canadians to be called fake french, to keep on topic.

Getting homework back that was clearly done by the parents of the child. No sir, I don't believe your daughter put "Donald J Trump" or "SLEEPY JOE" as an answer to the question "Give an example of a "Time Waster." Especially when it's written in cursive.

I guess it's just politicizing things in general. We've started up parent board meetings again, and I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to flip my table because some parent was complaining about "pick side" has us doing "pick crime." These meetings have become the bane of my existence; they are mind numbingly boring at best, and blood boilingly stupid at worst. Here's an exchange from last week's meeting:

Parent: "My daughter came home with a sheet with a half naked man on it."

Board Director: "Can you show us the sheet?"

Parent: "I don't have it. It was about some guy who killed someone."

At this point I look up, because it sounds like one of my homework assignments.

Me: "Ah, you might be talking about one of my assignments. We're doing a unit on mythology - it might have been the story of Heracles."

Parent: "Whatever happened to Hercules? Why did you change his name?"

Me: "...what?"

Parent: "You damn leftists are always changing things to fit your agenda"

Me: "....What are you talking about?"

Parent: "When I was in school, his name was HERCULES, and he was a symbol of honor, strength, and trust - a symbol of the hardworking MAN. The Greeks were WARRIORS, not whatever you're trying to turn them into. Hercules wasn't a damn murderer."

Me: "Sir, we're not chan-"

Parent: "BOARD DIRECTOR "XYZ" - what do you have to say about this bullshit? Why are your teachers constantly rewriting history to match some wild narrative you guys are always trying to spin?"

Board Director: "points at me" Can you explain this?

Me: "Hercules...is Roman. Heracles is Greek. We're doing a unit on Greek mythology. The story in question is about Heracles' 10 labors - "

Parent: " I know who HERCULES is and his TWELVE jobs were. He wasn't no murderer - like I said, he's a symbol of MASCULINITY and STRENGTH. Why are you changing his story???"

Me:....HERACLES' 10 labors that expands into 12 because of issues with the first 2. Labors that he's undergoing because he killed his wife and children. The sheet contains a photo of a real life statue of the hero. I'm pretty certain it even explains the "Heracles to Hercules" bit in the caption of the statue.

Parent: ..... well that's definitely not what happened with Hercules when I was in school.

Board Director: ....OK, any further questions from anyone else?

Damn what the hell. Everyone should know history is wrote by the winner. So Left Right Up Down. History is never really accurate because winner of any war age will always make there side look good.

O there I go again I hate people including myself at times.

Funny fact is it is art no problem showing all anadimy but if book told for educational even if it art history people go ape shit.

Our Director is fine, if not a little soft. But ever since COVID hit and was heavily politicized (especially in our district for some weird reason), the nonsense has been non-stop.

We've had kids pulled from class - some even mid-class - because the parents didn't "agree" with what we were teaching. We've had children come to school with wildly inappropriate t-shirts on (with the parents claiming freedom of speech when contacted, despite the fact that we have uniforms and a dress code.) We've even had parents petition that the school lunch was pushing an agenda, because they served "gay, rainbow sorbet." It was two-toned...

Just please leave the kids out of whatever bullshit you're going through. These poor kids have an uphill battle as is, don't make it worse.

My kids are all great. And honestly, most of the kids in the school are great. Most of our staff is great, too. Our largest issue, outside of funding and the usual teacher concerns, really is parents. We have a system where parents can send teachers questions through an online portal after submitting homework, and it's nightmare fuel. I'm about 2 more questions away from just disabling the thing.

Just to clarify I believe in a free thinking.
That means to some a book text.
Me that means look around and compare what you read. A lot of books are sanitized to what the majority believe.

my new 64gb sdcard with atmosphere on it used on my switch got corrupted after 2 months of use...not sure if it is common issue or if the sd card is faulty...too annoyed to test and I don't have the courage to setup atmosphere again... too much time consuming.

If the card was formatted as exfat, then that's why it corrupted. Known bug in Nintendo's driver that mostly affects homebrew.
If it was fat32, then corrupting would have been more of an unlikely unfortunate occurrence, but more likely to be fixable by running disk repair on a computer. Unless it's a dodgy fake SD card in which case get one that isn't.

Ah! Back to the topic.. This one is similar to the one about "people who never admit they're wrong " but not exactly the same.. It's about those who reach a one "true" conclusion concerning some matter or problem, and can't be convinced that there's other (equally) possible interpretations or reasons that could also be true, but they just won't take it.. Not because of facts or reasoning on their side that made them go with said conclusion, no! It's just because they say so..
