Hi dudes. I am planning to update my Wii (HKG) from 4.2J to 4.3J. When I follow the excellent ModMii procedures, it stuck at the "Some YAWMM Mod" step. When installing "SystemMenu_4.3J_v512.wad", it failed and said "I won't install wrong region SM" . From "Any Region Changer ME", all region is Japan/NTSC-J. From "SysCheck HDE v2.4.0 HacksDen Edition" report., everything seems normal (and confirmed by sysCheck Updater that everything is up-to-date). Really strange.

Region: NTSC-J
System Menu 4.2J (v480)
Priiloader installed
Drive date: 07.14.2008
Homebrew Channel 1.1.2 running on IOS58

Hollywood v0x21
Console ID: 95500993
Console Type: Wii
Shop Channel Country: Japan (1)
Boot2 v4
Found 83 titles.
Found 44 IOS on this console. 5 of them are stubs.

Are you sure stock HK (Chinese) Wiis come with the NTSC-J fw?
Also, you should have Bootmii installed and make a nand backup with it just in case.
I think you can update your system to 4.3 J with ModMii by @XFlak. So why not try that?

if you have a stock 4.2J system menu installed and you're trying to install 4.3J this is indeed strange.

In any case, currently yawmm will prevent u from installing a system menu for a different region, and if (for whatever reason) yawmm cannot determine your current system menu region (based on version number, i.e. v480) then it won't allow you to install ANY system menu wad.

You can use MMM to install this, as it doesn't have any region safety restrictions. But MMM doesn't have Wiimote+ support; in which case you may need to use a gamecube controller or Wii Mod Lite if all u have is a wiimote+; but careful as WML has got a bug where it sometimes crashes after installing wads and returning to its main menu and hitting B one too many times. Make sure you immediately reinstall priiloader after installing a new system menu wad, as it gets removed during this procedure.

edit: I think for Japanese consoles syscheck.csv should read "Region: JAP", but for some reason yours says "Region: NTSC-J"; this may have something to do with this issue, I'm not certain

Thanks for your professional advice. I am lucky that I have an old Wiimote (i.e. Without motion plus) Finally, I have to use MMM to install "SystemMenu_4.3J_v512.wad", then install priiloader again. It works like a charm.
