Hardware is new 3ds rare?

i have an european 3ds with bootstrat 1.0.4 i saw people paying a lot for that systems why? i bought it for 120€

Depends on the model. The XL version was just shy of 14 million sold. But the standard size only sold under 3 million. So the standard size is a lot rarer to find than the XL so I guess that is why prices for it are quite high.

Yeah, it definitely depends on the version. I was lucky enough to buy the standard size version, so it's probably a bit harder to find than the XL.
 
For some it has also become the ultimate emulation system (easy enough to hack, fairly decent support as these things go*( which kept the price high. Some even think the system has games all of its own which is cute but whatever.

*for my money it is nothing like it could be if the 3ds homebrew scene was anything like the GBA, xbox, PSP or DS ones.
 
I've noticed that the new versions of the 3ds's have nintendo effect, where I live new 3ds xl and new 2ds xl dont often come under $200. Similarily with the Wii U. I only see good deals when people don't know what they're selling
