Hello,

I have put the files I need on my sd card in order to install and run Tinfoil from Tinfoil.io. I followed the instructions to the letter. The only thing is that I am on Atmosphere 13.1.0 I believe, and have not updated to 14 because I am a little hesitant. I don't know if this is the issue or not.

Basically it is telling me that Tinfoil is not on my Micro SD card, the files are corrupted, and/or is asking me to connect to wifi, which is risky on emuMMC. I've included some images to further describe what errors I am seeing on my Switch. I hope it helps clarify some things. I do know that I am supposed to run homebrew from the homebrew menu rather than the typical Switch Home screen.

If anyone knows what could be going on, I would love some advice, suggestions, and instruction. Thank you in advance for the help!

Quit booting via Hekate use fusee and get upto date sig patches for fusee and use title takeover mode to boot hbmenu

So, on the Hekate menu, I would go to "payloads" instead of "launch"? Then choose "fusee.bin" to boot using fusee? How can I know that my sig patches are up to date or not(and what are sig patches, exactly)? How can I update them when needed?

About the other things you mentioned, Would you mind explaining to me what title takeover mode is, and how to use it to boot to the hbmenu? I have only ever used Hekate.

Right now, is it necessary for me.to update firmware to 14.1 or not?

Thank you again for the help!

yes, youd go to payloads then fusee, bin, however if you just edit your Hekate_ipl in the bootloader folder, you can change the emunand booting path to use fusee.bin so you can use the launch option.

google itotaljustice, download that zip, drag onto sd card. you have to do this every time you update atmosphere/hekate.

title takover just means it lets hbmenu use full ram. Hold R and start a game on your homescreen, then homebrew menu will open in full ram mode. then use the tinfoil nro

Ok. I see. Changing the path though isn't necessary is it? Just for convenience? And for updating using itotaljustice, do I unzip the file? Or just leave it zipped and put it on the root of my card? I think I asked this before, but can I wait to update? Does Tinfoil need it to work? Finally, i don't have many games on my homescreen, but can the game I select to open the hb menu in full ram and use the Tinfoil nro be a demo?

editing hekate ipl file is just for convenience yes.

for sigpatches, yes, unzip, then drop onto root of sd, overwrite everything. ( you need these to play pirated games and run tinfoil)

yea you can wait to update, you dont actually need to update everytime unless you want to play online. honestly, you could probably update once a year and be just fine.

yes it can be a demo, just has to be a game tile.

Alright. I think I understand now. Thank you very much for all the information! So when I put in the itotaljustice zip, should these errors be corrected?

in theory yea, booting with fusee, and got proper sigpatches, should work.
Sounds good. I managed to get Tinfoil running by holding R, opening the homebrew menu, and selecting the first Tinfoil installer tile. However, on the left side menu of Tinfoil, the "new games" option is missing. I have heard that this is a common issue. I'm also not sure how to open a shop like quota, jits, and so on. Am I able to download from a shop without a PC? Also, I have NUT installed on my PC. Am I better off putting an NSP game file on my Switch through NUT and installing it by connecting a USB cable to my Switch? I would like to know more about using shops though. If you have any advice or instructions I would appreciate it! I have a link to some images of the issues in Tinfoil I am coming across. Hopefully it will further clarify things.

tinfoil wont have a new games option till you add shops. dont think i can post shops but google carcaschoi. first github link, down the page there will be shops with info that you can manually add to tinfoil it will look like this,
# SHOP NAME
Protocol: https
Host: SHOP URL
Title: SHOP NAME

to add shops Go to the "File Browser" and hit "-" to add a new shop.

if the shops dont have the game then yea usb installs work great. make sure you downloaded the NUTT drivers, then all you need to do is plug switch into pc, start tinfoil, switch will then pop up in "my computer", open it, then drag games/dlc/updates to the "install" folder. when the progress bar is complete, the games is installed, just back out of tinfoil.

Great! Thanks again.
So, yesterday, I had added the information for jits, quota, and Luffshop (ex. Protocol, host, etc.), and attempted to open the shops by pressing A. Nothing happened, so I checked to see if the shops were up or not. Luffshop said that it could take 1-2 minutes to load. Do all shops take time to load up? Also, I can't remember what this information.is under. Perhaps, Options on the left side. Anyway, it is a log of activity I have recently done and opening new shops is listed. It has something about network connection. I can't really use wifi in Tinfoil because of the risk. But do I need it to load up the shops?

you can use wifi in tinfoil with 0 risk bc if your using tinfoil, you should already have setup incognito/exosphere or 90-dns which blocks nintendo servers.

also you dont need to click a shop to view content. new tabs should of appeared on the side, plus you can just search for games using +, no need to click into each shop.

What new tabs should I be seeing on the side? New Games is still not there. I do see "incognito" that is there on the side, but I am not sure if I have incognito or not. However, I do have exosphere/90DNS. Also, how should I connect to wifi in Tinfoil? And where do I press, "+" to search for games?

if you have 90dns or exosphere then just connect to your router like normal, then open tinfoil and shop lists should populate and new tabs such as "new games, new dlc, new updates, recommended games" ect will show up, but only if your connected to the internet.

you can press + to search anywhere on the tab side, look at bottom of screen for commands

You may want to Google: rentry switch hacking

This is an update to date guide, go through the setup, and review what you did. And then go to the Homebrew & Misc. Guide section and make sure you have incognito setup if you have an Erista Switch.

I was on Atmosphere 1.2.6 with the 13 firmware and just did a full update today. I updated Tinfoil first and was missing the menus you are. I installed Atmosphere 1.3.1 and the 14.1 firmware and everything is working now.

Oops. Multiple posts. Please ignore!

So if I can use wifi with Tinfoil because of having 90DNS, exosphere/incognito installed, then why can't I play online games as well?

because 90dns, incognito/exosphere specifically blocks nintendo servers and most online games ping nintendo servers first.

Ok. That makes sense now.
So I figured out, using the instructions I learned here, how the shops are added. My list popuated with shops, dlc, etc. today, and I am downloading my first game. I do have a question though about the game's install menu. I attached an image of what I am seeing before I install it. Basically all the choices to the right side I don't understand. "Convert to standard Crypto," "install ticket only," "Reinstall NCA'S", "Delete after (what does it delete?)", "Include all DLC and latest update." If you could explain these a bit further, I'd appreciate it! Thanks.
