Hacking Japanese 3DS // Questions

Hello everyone, I’m American and currently living in Japan. I use to know how to emulate my DS but never a 3DS.

I saw a 3DS Japan exclusive color way for $60. So I’m thinking of buying it. I just had a few questions.

I know the 3DS is region locked so Japan.

1. Can I change the 3DS language to English?

2. Is it still possible to hack / mod it?

3. Can I play American / English ROMs

Not sure about changing the language, possibly if the 3ds doesn't contain region specific firmware. You can hack it, yes, and once you do, it will be region free

So while hacking it, everything is going to be Japanese and once it’s hacked I can play American / English game ROMs

I wouldn't use a video guide. Google 3ds cfw guide. The right one should be the top hit. I'm not at my computer right now

I hacked my Japanese new 3DS xl, and I can read basic Japanese, which I would assume you can too? You only need to know basic Japanese and follow the steps in the guide. Start by installing PIKUROSU, and getting a min 32gb SD card.
Then follow the steps in the youtube video called "How To Jailbreak 3DS 11.15 & 2DS NEW 2022 Guide!". I used that and it was pretty straight forward. I don't recommend you do the region change though, just doing what's on the video is enough to play any roms. The only thing is that you won't be able to play USA carts.

You can region change but you would be locked out of the eshop if you region changed, you can hack it. Yea you can play out of region games on CFW fine without region change just that your system language would be Japanese.
