I have been trying to find informations about the "Normal" reboot option in hekate.

OFW would boot stock,
Normal instead sends me back to RCM.

Is this an intended behavior on HWFLY chips? Or should boot stock with fuse checks?

Normal OFW
Might not be working on Lites and they dont have RCM support

Boot stock with heklate under launch if you have your hekate_ipl.ini setup

You can set autoboot ofw
you can set autoboot sys cfw
you can auto boot emummc cfw

I am aware on how to launch ofw, mine is more of a clarification about the "normal" option i have.

Hekate 5.5.3 it's when it was introduced, saying:
  • Allow Reboot to OFW (bypass fuses) on patched Erista and Mariko units
The options for these (except unpatched) now are:
OFW: Reboot and bypass fuses like always. This depends on at least one intact BCT.
Normal: Reboot by resetting regulators. This enters custom bootloader if chipped, otherwise it does an OFW (no fuse bypass) reboot.

show your hekate ini
also some hwfly lites can become defective similar to broken sxlites but they are rare.
Oh, sorry if it wasn't clear. I can boot in OFW without any issues by pressing "reboot" and "OFW".

However, i noticed there's that "Normal" reboot option, but it just reboots into hekate itself.

Hence why i asked if that was a proper behavior, seen from other users as well or not

from where exactly are you choosing? from hekate NYX or the basic hekate bin? those two are different.

normal will try to reboot the switch normally,
meaning it will boot rcm IF you have a v1 unpatched and RCM mode

OR in your case,
load the payload.bin / boot.dat IF you have a chipped switch -

the NORMAL is indeed a normal powercycle and its operation will result to whatever the setup is *see above.

Not from the launch menu, from the bottom right, so i would assume Nyx.
So you're saying, "Normal" does an actual reboot and since it's chipped it'll launch hekate again.
OFW "reboot" it's not really a reboot but launches into OFW instead, am i correct?

Am i safe to assume that's a proper behavior from HWFLY then?

On unpatched unit "Normal" option is not there at all.

i think the realization is incorrect when if saying specifically for hwfly,
normal reboot would only mean boot normally, and as mentioned prior, it is chipped therefore it will load your payload.bin which is hekate.

ofw is just booting the switch without the bootloader, fuses will be burnt
afaik it's like not having a chip, afaik

this is why the ofw sysnand is passed to stage3 so your fuses aren't burnt (please correct me if i'm wrong but that's how i understood it)

So you're saying that my chip is doing what is meant to do? Correct? I'm confused by this response sir :rofl2:

OFW should skip fuse check,
the "normal" boot should instead do the check, but in my case it never boots as i said using that. I understood what you meant,
you're saying that "Normal" is an actual reboot ( power cycle ) by resetting regulators; which is why i get sent back into hekate, because the chip is made to do so. Otherwise i would boot with fuse check, a proper, "Normal" boot.
