'Alan Wake Remastered' confirmed; launches this fall

alan wake remastered.png

After being rumored for a few days, the remastered version of Alan Wake has been confirmed. Sam Lake, Remedy Entertainment's Creative Director, made the announcement in a guest blog post on alanwake.info.

"This is for you," writes Sam Lake. "Alan Wake came out over 11 years ago, and through that time, you have told us again and again how much you love the game, the story, the characters, and the lore. And that matters a lot to us. We love this game as well. I love this game. The remaster is coming because of your support for Alan Wake through the years."

In the post, the creative director confirms that Alan Wake Remastered is "nearing its completion" and that it will be a multiplatform title published in partnership with Epic Games Publishing. Multiplatform. It will launch on PC on the Epic Games Store, Xbox and PlayStation consoles (both this generation and the previous one). The release window has been announced for this fall but previous "leaks" were more specific, giving the title a launch date for October 5th.

You can read Sam Lake's post in its integrity in the source link below.

Another "Remaster" ahem, you mean port with your graphic engine settings higher, nothing remastered at all, just a port.

Lets hope they don't screw it up like they did Control on PC, they cant even be arsed to fix it.

So, no Switch version? Yeah I'll just stick with my old Steam copy and play it on my Steam Deck.
Lol you do know that switch is a NINTENDO console right?

But you do prove a perfect point, something that has always been an issue when it comes to nintendo, but lets see if they loyal fans come to defend with the usual excuses........

Did you read the blog post?

Alan Wake Remastered is the original experience you fell in love with all those years ago. We did not want to change that. But the visuals all around, including the character model of Alan Wake himself and the cinematics, have been updated and improved with some choice next-generation upgrades.

Alan Wake was such a good game. The "performance on stage" with the music and everything is such an awesome time.

How was control on PC screwed? I've played it through 3 times, and it's awesome, didn't have any issues...

All you need to do is do a simple google search, the game has problems, maybe your lucky but loads of graphical problems.

Mine as others, low resolution textures when you have your settings on high, but then other textures look ok.

but on low the low resolution textures load as high resolution, and other textures look low resolution.

you can even look at why they ditched DX11 because it was causing problems, but it never fixed anything.

and then black screen bug where you cant boot the game unless you delete renderer.ini before you boot the game.

first pic is high settings, second pic is on low settings.

and its not my system not able to run it, as it runs everything else at ultra high settings like AC Valhalla, RE8 and so on.

Just because Switch is a Nintendo console, doesn't mean that it does not deserve games like this. It's a shame that some people cant get their heads out their asses and stop thinking of Nintendo as the platform only for kids. If someone wanted to state that the so called remake would be a bit much for the Switch to handle from a technical POV, I'd be willing to accept that. As far as the game not getting ported for the sake of content, people can fuck off with that nonsense. Considering that Nintendo fans never had a shake at Allen Wake, one would think that the team behind this could be half assed and at least port the current version of the game to Switch. In either case, I dont care as much. For the most part I've given up on the gaming industry. It's a waste. I'm just dropping my 2 cents. Last time gaming was good, the Nintendo Wii was still on store shelves.

this is whats to expect on nintendo consoles tho, your not given the option to play said games when its new, mainly is it hardware lacking, yes, or is it they dont sell as well hence no support until nintendo make a new system with the hardware to easily port its old games.

thats the problem, buy a new console to play all the games they lacked the first time round, while the new systems are getting new titles, nintendo is always behind and the switch is worse for all the sodding ports, that even nintendo cant be arsed and port its same old crap.

but the fans will deny and defend.

id rather have the option to play games when its new, not wait for a new system to play what i already own.

Go back to your Call of Dookie. Sorry anything deeper for you is considered "boring".
Alan Wake was a good game, recently replayed it on PC but personally id rather see them work on a new title rather than port the same game which highly likely will only have slight texture improvements, but if they claim to be giving it a full overhaul ill see it when i see it.

I hope there's some more ambitious plans for this remaster. New playable content would be cool as hell but a game like this that plays around with light and shadow so much seems like a shoe-in for raytraced lighting.

Obviously this should be addressed officially by Remedy but as an FYI, there is an unofficial fix for the low-res texture bug: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Control#Blurry_textures

It is a good game. But it falls short in the combat department IMO, it's the same thing over and over, wish there was some variety other than just using the flash light/flare gun/shutgun etc.

I never had any of those issues, but I also don't play on low resolutions. I heard about there being issues like that at launch, but nothing after updates/fixes. Sounds like people with a gfx card or rig that can't really run the demanding game. I mean, it can't even be run in native 4k everything on ultra on a 3090.
