Stuff I'm using: FreeMcBoot 1.966 memory card I purchased off of Amazon, PS2 model SCPH - 50001, 2TB Baracuda Internal HD purchased brand new specifically for the PS2

I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge/experience. My immediate issue is that I cannot create partitions. I was following a Youtube tutorial on how to set up a 2 TB internal HD. I entered HDDManager and formatted the drive with no apparent issue. The video then said to go into OPL (OPNPS2LD.ELF I believe) and it would automatically create the +OPL partition. I did that but no partition was created. Another video I watched showed how to manually create partitions (R1, create, name, etc.). I tried that including setting the desired size but when I click "OK" I get the message that creating the partition failed.

In HDDManager the HD is listed as connected and formatted. However something I noticed is that only "mbr' and "net" are listed. "System," "Sysconf," and "Common" do not appear. If I try to reformat it says formatting failed, these three re-appear and then after some time the whole thing freezes up and I have to power off. When I power back on, it's not longer froze but I'm back to square one (can't create partitions, reformatting fails, system, sysconf, and common no longer there).

I've checked the compatibility list and my HD model appears on several of them (Seagate Baracuda ST2000DM008). The LaunchELF version listed on screen of the FMCB is 4.42d and OPL is 0.9.3

I really am a novice at this so I apologize for my ignorance. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much in advance.

You're using an old version of uLaunchElf, and I don't think it supported 2TB drives at the time. Try using the version listed on this page instead (if I'm not mistaken, it should be the newest version)

Thank you so much for responding. Do you have a link to a tutorial on how to update my uLaunchElf version?

I understand the general concept I think but I don't know the specifics.

It's just a matter of replacing the BOOT.ELF corresponding to uLaunchElf on your memory card :P It is probably located in the BOOT folder on your memory card

Yeah I figured :). I'm the type who if there's 5 steps, I accidentally miss step #3 and then have to start all over so I just wanted to make sure.

Found one at the site you sent me to for the update for anyone that comes across this and needs it here.

Just went and updated ULaunchElf and that completely fixed my problem. Updated fine. Formatted fine (keeping the directories). And was manually able to create the +OPL partition.

Thank you so much!

Can't say I won't be back with another/different issue later on, but for now I'll take the win

Thanks again.
