Hi. I was wondering if it would be worth homebrew my switch in order to run applications and emulators but I do have a couple of questions. Will this get my console banned from online services? Is my switch able to get soft modded depending on which model it is? Is there things I should be aware of after softmodding? Thanks in advance.

No if you're not pirating, cheating or screwing with system partition.

Dunno if your switch, but yes - it depends.

Do full backup already when you can do it and save it to safe place. It can save your butt many times.

Alright. Is there a recommended guide I should follow?

This is the guide I recommend. But to check and see if your switch is softmodable, go to
Ismyswitchpatched.com and type in your serial number. If its patched then the only way you can load cfw is if your switch is on 4.1 or you install a modchip (mod chips are expensive and hard to find)

Yes and No and I will explain why...

If that is your only switch I recommend you buying a newer clean one so you can just transfer your saves to the newer device and play clean.

I don't recommend anyone homebrewing their only switch with their account tied to it especially if they invested a ton of money into it because if you screw up and get banned you lose everything. I know alot of people can't really afford two different consoles but still. It you're going to get into this it's going to cost you.

I don't really count because I have 6 switches haha but they average person really need to have 2 switches at all times if they are putting homebrew.

The serial number prefix is XKW9. It doesn't appear in the prefix tab.

2 switches are CFW (I was going to sell one of them but it was in really good condition so I kepted it and loaded SXOS on it)
2 switches are the pokemon swich lite (one of them was free due to targets mistake still brand new in the box )
2 switches are the V2 switches one of them are the animal crossing one (still new in the box) the other one I had bought off a guy for online play on the big screen

I didn't plan on getting 6 switches it kind of just happened. I probably spent $1400 on the switches but I spent around $1200 on the games since I do own 51 switch games.

Also you are better off buying a unpatched switch since your model you can't mod easily without a modchip. All my CFW switches came from ebay. Just ask the buyer for the serial number never buy one that says unpatched because they will upcharge you.

Yeahhhh maybe I should wait 2-3 years so hacking would become easier.

There is no sign that we will ever have another softmod exploit that works on anything above 7.0 or 7.1. Nintendo seem to have made a pretty secure system this time around. Of course, nothing is unhackable, it might just take a decade for it to happen.

They don't ban accounts.
