I found out how to change at least your character's name (doesn't work for Palico or Palamute).

Make a new save on Slot 2, name your character what you want. Change the data001Slot.bin to data002Slot.bin from this save file. Replace the file in your 0 and 1 save folder. When you load the save you'll have your character's name but all the features the save has.

I am thinking of doing the same thing for my friend who can't hack his Switch
Did this once for him in GU
But now I'm nervous it might get my Switch banned because of the IP traffic
He lives in the US and I'm in The Philippines

simple guide to apply this to your save. remember this is a STARTER SAVE. im not sure if you can do this in a save with progression. i am not responsible for lost progress and items.

1. create a NEW character with your desired name and look
2. when designing your dog and cat make sure to save the template
3. when you get into town. save and quit.
4. backup your save with JKSV
5. ftp into switch directory /JKSV/MONSTER HUNTER RISE
   
6. copy a backup of your save (in case something goes wrong)
7. transfer and overwrite data001Slot.bin from this modded save
   
8. restore the save with JKSV
9. ...
10. profit

data00xSlot.bin "x" is the slot number of the save. change accordingly.
so data001Slot.bin for slot 1. data002Slot.bin for slot 2. data003Slot.bin for slot 3.

tested on a new save. idk how this affects later progress saves. this seems to affects items and your cat and dog. if you want to customize your cat and dog, save a template. then load the template when scouting for one. you can also rename the current ones if you dont care about the look.

Quick question. So if I jailbreak and download this save and then restore it my system, would I be ok to remove everything I downloaded and just use the save to play Online? I dont care about the name changes or anything like that, literally the only thing I want is the save, and then to wipe all traces of homebrew cfw and everything else from the switch to (possibly) avoid bans. Would that be possible? I guess the real question is, can the save be used with Homebrew and CFW after it's been restored to the switch and after Homebrew and Cfw are removed/not on? Because I dont want to activate any cheats or anything, only the save so that I can save time on farming charms. I've already beaten the game and just need mats to continously make charms at the RNG pot. To reiterate I just want the save, and to remove everything else afterwards so I can play online with my friend. Would that be possible?
