Hacking Wii U Firmware Update 5.5.5 released

Can you please tell me the best software and configurations for a proper sd formatting? Is it possible to test if my wii u can still read sd cards at all?

The Windows formatting tool should work plenty in this case.

I guess you could try them out by trying to save your Miis as photos to your SD card, from Mii Maker.

I am using 8GB/16GB mini sd cards with an adapter.

I personally use a SDHC 16GB card, but those should work fine as well. Perhaps there's a problem with the adapter you're using?

I think I used two different adapters as well. Each one had its own mini sd card. Don't remember if I switched one of them... I will try to save a mii photo on a clean sd...


Btw, I guess haxchi isn't a custom firmware, so even if I can still load it, and Nintendo did something, I may still be unable to run certain non assigned codes, isn't it? People running an actual custom firmware on top the 5.5.5 may have better luck. Not sure if what I'm talking about makes any sense...

All the exploits that worked for 5.5.4/5.5.3 should work exactly the same on the latest firmware, so you should be fine in that area.

If you haven't already, I strongly recommend blocking future updates in case Nintendo ever tries to crack down on hacking (which is unlikely, but still worth doing just to be safe).

Guys, either my external SD is defective, or the update screwed me big time. Whenever the Wii U tries to load a file there, it fails. Haxchi works because it is already installed, but browser hack, nintendon´t and wup installer don't work anymore.

Still happening. Now, when trying to run browser exploit, it will give the following error:

FSOpenFile failed. File missing /vol/external01/wiiu/payload.elf

This happens before loading haxchi and after loading haxchi.

Guys, i am so sorry for the trouble. Turned out the file payload.elf had been deleted from my SD card for completely unknown reasons. The file was missing from my sd backup folder on my PC as well. Maybe some antivirus wiped this file from both my wii u sd card (when i inserted it on my PC the last time i used) as well as from my PC HD.

On top of that, i believe my SD card may have some issue, which may explain that weird message about the fat32 format.

Overall, the update 5.5.5U is fine. No problem whatsoever with it. Running anything and everything just as the 5.5.3 used to. Nothing changed and nothing to see here.

i upgradet and funnywise my don´t working WAD Games runs ok i have just one "Doc Luise Punch Out" and i don´t have the possibility to make it run because i just broke up my vWii, but everything looks normal like always. Haxchi is booting normal Games runs looks ok.
One thing my Versionnumber is 99.9999.99 or something like that?!?.

That's firmware spoofing iirc. Pretty normal.

with spoofing you can. I think mocha spoofs as well, it just doesn't show it. spoofing is only for playing online afaik. updates and the eshop are not fooled by spoofing.

Ok. I was reading this thread, is this the method of spoofing you are referring to? I noticed in the thread, that spoofing is permanent. I saw you in there saying that is no big deal, i figure that's still the case? I've never used the eshop on this console before, but by spoofing I can never access eshop again?

no, you can access the eshop with nnu patcher or if you're actually on the latest firmware.

Thought I had blocking addresses but they were gone. A quick search and reentered them. Haxchi still seems to work and don't see an update. Will it try again? Should I be worried every time I turn it back on?

There appears to be no reason not to update to 5.5.5. All exploits and CFW still work.

You might want to delete the update folder on the NAND to block updates. It's more reliable than DNS settings.

Uhhgg! Its been so long since I did any of the Wii Hacking I don't remember how to even go about doing what you suggested. Care to refresh my memory?

Uh Never mind I looked it up and would rather just DNS it for now... I dont buy from store, nor do I play online.

I have everything I want on my WiiU anyway... I'm thinking I should delete my Inet Connection all together! ???
