as much as I love Nintendo, I think the lack of features on the switch is just so that there's no back door into hacking. however, I feel like if that's the reason why you're being so slow at adding anything or simple not adding it to begin with, you should get out of the industry. that sort of paranoia pisses me off.

honestly the VC was the best thing they ever made for wii/U i dont even know why they went away with that concept it made things so much easier to find classics
Well, I personally Don't have a huge problem with the NES and SNES classic applications since we can inject our own ROMs. But I get what you are saying. It was somewhat easier to find things. I really am only concerned about is playing my wii games

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I'd rather go for lineageOs instead
Still, im a simple guy, I like everything to be in one place, see the game I want and boop start booting it up.

Sorry, too lazy to read the whole posts. Is there any hope for the other Wii or GC games to work with the emulator of those games?

No, since the nro in romfs is actually Mario Sunshine recompiled from PowerPC to ARM64, in other words we need a tool to do the recompilation aswell as respect the emulator's interface.

Wait why is the emulators interface relevant I don't want to deal with that shitty menu every time I boot up. Plus how much do you think something like this would cost to make, I think I heard 60K thrown around. Also sounds like its legally questionable.

I didnt mean the menu interface, i was talking about how the newly created nro should be compatible with the emulator.

Im interested to hear how much work it would be to make something like that. a ARM64 Recompiler
m4xw started working on one here https://git.m4xw.net/m4x/retdec-hagi, tho im not sure whether he plans on finishing it and making it hagi compatible so dont get your hopes up. Btw he probably did it just for research to see which route they took to make their tool for recompiling PPC to ARM64 so that becoming a hagi injector is really unlikely.

What if we started a patreon

The man already has a patreon you know?. Anyways, forget about a recompiler, it's a gargantuan amount of work, it would likely be less of a hassle to port Vulkan and dolphin to retroarch on horizon.
Still there is a performance hit. I'm saying in theory if someone were to do this it would open up the last 3 generations of Nintendo consoles to be played on switch. Ye i know it would be a assload of work but idk.

Sure, just take a look at how long it took for people to get the source code for Super Mario 64... It's more feasible to port dolphin and optimize it to the max instead of crack open the emulator that All Stars 3D uses...

How much work would that take though? We do have the wiis source code but that's illegal so. Would it be worth the effort?
Are people still looking into game injections or its not possible?
I dont think is impossible i just think its a lot of work that nobody wants/knows how to work on.

so uh... lotta complex stuff here I don't understand. So does 3D All-Stars's emulator open the door for one day getting the first three Paper Mario games onto the Switch or not? I want Nintendo to do it but realistically it's doubtful so that's why I had a lot of hope in modding

Short answer: no.

Longer answer: 3DAS uses a mix of emulation and recompilation, so getting games other than those already included is extremely difficult and unlikely to happen (outside of N64, which could have the ROM swapped with some work, although nobody is working on it).
