Title says it all. Is there any GBA emulator on switch that lets us use cheat codes with it? Need to unlock a game mode but dont feel like going through the process

I can't get VBA-Next to work on 10.2.0, and it looks like it's newer version, VBA-M has been abandoned? Anything else for cheats on GBA for switch?
Sadly yes. The big update from Atmosphere broke the controls and touch function. I haven't tested it yet, but I think you should try mGBA 0.8.4 instead see if cheats works.

Retroarch is just ass overall, so that just leaves us with only mGBA for now.

It doesn't unfortunately, unless there's a setting I missed :/. Guess PS Vita still is the way to go sadly

You can use cheats in retroarch. I ran a pkmn romhack (snakewood) with cheats. But it was hit and miss. Im not sure if it was me (inputted the code wrong), if the code didn't work in retroarch, or if it was a bad code. But I did get some and there is files of pre made cheats for majority of gba games

I've used retroarch, but their cheat database is hit and miss, which is the problem. I wish they'd open it to beyond just codebreaker codes, their format is almost as weird as the EZ Omega :/

Retroarch is NOT ass and by far the best thing for emulation on the switch. Just use the mgba core and cheats work perfectly.

that's what I use. But the cheats don't always exist (pokemon, some zelda, etc) or they don't work. I prefer to build my own cheats, like with gPSP or TempGBA, but editing Retroarch is ever more difficult based on their code structure. gamehacking.org doesn't always have working ones either

Their cheats function for gba is ass, emulation is okay but that's just standard at this point.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Really need someone to port VBA-next to latest Atmos, gameshark codes cannot be replaced basically for gba games.

don't you mean VBA-M? That's the one the standalone creator of VBA next was supposed to make....2 years ago :(

I use retroarch and it works fine and its also really easy to make your own cheats using search function in the cheats section it took me about 5 mins to find the Health, PP, Damage amount (insta kill), and some other stuff in Golden Sun for all 4 characters

but i never tryed adding my own game shark or code breaker codes

sometimes its better to try for yourself then just believe what someone says because they could have easily messed up on something to not get it to work for them

The port (made by @catlover007 ) got abandoned in favor of the superior mGBA emulator.
Doesn't scream superior when even some basic cheat function is not there. The retroarch had soms more but wouldn't ever accept gameshark codes so that's a dealbreaker already, even codebreaker codes didn't work for some.

Also I didn't know the current state of mgba emulation, but back then when VBA-next worked mgba is literally trash compared to the former in terms for framerate, I couldn't play fast paced games on it. Sure maybe it's more "accurate" but those drops are so not worth the price.

I never had problems with numbers editing but complex codes search is just too much work, close to impossible using that.

Tell me, how can you replicate codes like this, on Battle Network 5 for example, using basic ass search..

No Random Battles: 4678DBDDFD21
Invulnerable: 8006768E6415
Always Berserk Mode: 0CC1728E24CE
Always Dark Mode: 762E52DEF435
Always Full-Synchro: 89D1AD210BCA
Charge Faster: 0C0252BA6685
Soul Max Charge: 0E1ED99D7994

Still I agree you should test it yourself and maybe it actually works maybe it doesn't. Might as well waste hours and hours upon doing it instead of adhering to advices. Be my guest though and prove me wrong, I'll be happy to hear great news.

Until mgba or its arch counterpart works with gameshark codes I wouldn't count on them at all.

Back to my statement did you actually try cuz every game shark code I tried worked. you need to use the VBA next core for game shark codes to work, and only some code breaker codes work on MGBA core but you seem to already know that. Not sure why you say vba next dont work what is it giving you problems with?

Wait there's a VBA next core on Retroarch?
