So I’m getting ready to start building my gba and I was wondering if omega was the most current build for the gba? I do see references to a iv card but I’m not sure personally what one is the one to go with. Also does the card support the gb/gbc games too? Kinda in hopes of doing some private trading to get certain evolutions

Omega is current card and it does support GB/GBC via emulation with Goomba emulator

I'm not sure if goomba supports link cable stuff though. might be you actually need a gb/c flashcard for that stuff

The EZ-Flash Omega is from 2018 and has decent support for Game Boy and Game Boy Color games, however it is probably much better if you get the Omega in conjunction with an EZ-Flash Jr.
I do own a jr I quite like it but I am in hopes of just doing it to trigger special evolutions in Pokémon since some cannot occur with a single game

c) take the middle option - I would have bought a Reform if they were still available at a competitive price (ie less than an Omega), non-soldered battery ftw

@Anatros if cheating is acceptable to you, the by far easiest option is to extract your GB/C saves from the Goomba saves, edit them in PkHeX, and reimport them

Ah I mostly play cheated versions on my phone but mainly looking to do some game play without cheats. but the devs of pokemon seemed to like to put limitations in place to try and force interaction with others with trading

Also pokemon crystal can't be played on ezflash omega at all.

You can get romhacks that solve this problem. For example "Perfect Crystal" is pretty much vanilla pokemon crystal with some quality of life improvements
Polished Crystal is also a good one but it does change way more things in the game, for example it has the physical/special split.

Edit: Polished crystal is overall much better
