When my Switch tries to connect to the Nintendo services it crashes and I get the error code 2002-0039 (0x4e02)

Program: 0100000000001005
Firmware: 10.1.0 (ams 0.14.1)

It happens when I try to update a game the official way, when I load up N++, Worms, etc. Any time it tries to connect to Ninty servers it will crash.

Anyone know what could be causing this?

EDIT: I'd like to add I am using incognito mode. So there is no way to actually connect to Nintendo servers.

I’ve been having the exact same issue, that error code means not enough free space but there’s plenty for me as well. I have a 512gb card with just over 200gb free which is FAT32. I have reformatted my sd card and even rebuilt my emunand but it still shows this error. Any help in solving this would also be appreciated. I’m also running incognito.

EDIT: Forgot to add turning on flight mode will bypass the issue as it won’t show the error message when trying to connect to Nintendo’s servers but instead show a message to turn off flight mode which you can just dismiss. But the issue will still be there when flight mode is off which is still an issue that needs to be solved.

Glad to know I'm not the only one! Thanks for the temporary workaround. Maybe it's a problem with Atmosphere.

The answer kind of seems obvious. You have incognito so there's no way to connect to Nintendo servers to update your games. You'r e getting an error because it can't communicate with Nintendo which the system sees as not normal so you get an error.

It's normal. You'll just need to update it using Tinfoil or download the update.nsp and install it.

I've never had this error before until recently. Even with incognito.

I had a problem like this officially using a legit system. it had to do with overloaded cache. I think it was a nintendo issue though. you can delete the cache.

While this is true, incognito will show an error because it can't connect to servers, the switch should not fully crash like this and you should be able to dismiss this message.

Do you know how I'd do this?

Did you ever solve this issue? Now I'm getting it every time my game tries to autosave.
Unfortunately no, I tried a different sd card and that's worked fine. What make is your sd card since the one that worked was a different brand, I'm thinking it could be something to do with that

I think I found a solution, try deleting some save files but obviously back them up first. I've just deleted my Minecraft saves which I modded to include texture packs and this has solved my issue completey.

There is apparently a 2gb limit for minecraft on the switch including the game so if you have a large save I would try deleting it and see if that solves it.

I found this out on Reddit and reading the comments it sounds like this is the cause since the error is a not enough space error.

Can you test this and confirm if it works? Thanks :)

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha

@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
