awhile back i went to replace the Analog stick (i call that more a pad than stick XD) i dont recall while i had to lift the board much but when i did i wasnt carefull enough and noticed there's a Rip in the upper screen Ribbon.

can the ribbon be replaced or is it part of the screen? if its part ofthe screen, if i were to post in the WTB section for getting a screen n having it installed whats the average i'd haveto expect (i dont have steady hands less than when i fumbled that stick repair,) i'd down the line try to get it replaced (3DS XL) but given its got sentimental value as the last thing i got from family thats now dead.. i'd like to try n get this fixed.

(edit its the same A Link Between Worlds seen in my sig)

The flex cable is directly soldered to the LCD. It's not replaceable. A hardcore repair specialist could try to splice flex cables back together if they got Swiss watch repair level of skills. Because the traces on the LCD cables are so much smaller than say the traces on the Circle Pad's cable, a splice repair won't hold up for long to the bending stress in the hinge area.

Have someone else replace the top LCD for you.

I would not advise you to try replacing the LCD because of the amount of carefulness to successfully pull it off is much greater than not having ripped it in the first place. Too much risk losing irreplaceable sentimental value.

i contacted the ebay seller you linked w/ a few questions i had mainly how is shipping handled, but yea i'd rather get this fixed than replace the 3DS itself. i have a 2nd XL (the one you actually replied to along time ago about my questions if i could solder to those dock port charge pins) that i debated having as spare parts even if needed for that seller,

Agreed with @TurdPooCharger , get the swap done by an expert, there can be a high failure rate passing these ribbon cables down the metal ring. And overall, the quality will be better (dust in screen, adhesive on screen protection,...)
Good luck!
