I like the idea of it being a stripped down Windows 10 copy, but where they ruined it was by making programs only downloadable via the Windows Store (I actually hate using it so I try to avoid it always).

Also, did someone find a way to install EXE files on Windows 10S? That would be interesting.

You can disable S mode to run other programs.
So while Windows 10S is installed, I could disable the S mode and run EXE files? That sounds cool.

How does that work?

When I searched for this 10 version there were very few videos about it. Like no one cares. lol

JDbye is referring to S Mode, which is what Windows 10S devolved into.

Microsoft abandoned the idea of Windows 10S being a separate Windows version in favor of making it a toggle-able mode on updated Windows 10, because Windows 10S was a fucking dumb idea and nobody wanted to use it.

If you're still using Windows 10S, upgrade to Pro or Home and then enable S-mode if you want to limit your PC.

EDIT: Actually I'm wrong, apparently it's still just one-way upgrade from S->Pro/Home, not toggle-able like I thought it was.

It's not like they hadn't tried that idea before *cough*Windows RT*cough*, it didn't take a genius to figure out that trying the exact same thing a second time and expecting it to go any better would be lunacy.

If you actually want a stripped down copy of Windows there are better ways to do it. Such as https://www.ntlite.com/ or any number of Windows 10 de bloating tools.

Windows RT was just Windows for ARM devices only, it's not quite the same thing.

Windows 10S is designed for x86 (and I guess like the two or three notebooks that used Snapdragon SoCs with the x86 emulation thing), and was essentially developed to be used on super low power devices/for people who don't know how to computer. RT was only limited because it was using ARM and no one wanted to develop things with WinRT, Windows 10S is limited because MS said so.
