So i have applied a plastic screen protector for my n2dsxl for some time, and it is all scratchy and sticky now.

I tried everything to remove the screen protector: prying tool, toothpics, fingernails... Worst thing about the top screen of n2dsxl is that the edge of the screen is 2-3 milimeters taller than the screen itself, so i can never find a right angle to pry the protector out.

I heard some talks about the Scotch tape method, and consider it as my last option.

Has anyone here tried out that method yet ? Did it work ? Please give a comment.

Take a q-tip dipped in 70-91% isopropyl alcohol. Rub this against the edge of one of the screen protector's corners. Keep this corner soaked. Use a toothpick to continually poke against the film's edge. Unless you bought a bad quality screen protector that came with a permanent adhesive, the isopropyl alcohol and toothpick should loosen the bond between the corner's inner film and screen surface. Once you get enough of that corner lifted, keep soaking the underside as you get a good hand grip to pull and roll the screen protector off the screen. You may need to clean off the adhesive residue from the screen with a paper towel soaked in the isopropyl alcohol left on the screen overnight and more prodding and swirling with q-tips.

Do not use hydrogen peroxide, acetone, ethanol or grain alcohol (ie, vodka, baiju, Everclear, spirits), methanol (wood alcohol), or other cleaning solutions.

Tried it, and did not work.

Like i said, the top screen top part of n2dsxl is designed to have the top screen 2mm lower than its edge, and the space between the screen protector and the edge is so small that there are just no angles to use either toothpicks or fingernails. I busted one of my nail when tried this.

Still waiting for that strong tape to come. If this doesnt work, i will have to consider busting open that top screen.

The glass panel that the screen protector attaches to is glued to the frame from its backside. There's a high risk trying to remove the panel itself will crack it or the upper LCD.

You can try to tear a hole into the screen protector on the central area if you're extremely careful running a razor box cutter with a very slow and light pressure. Don't want to cut so deep or hard as to scratch or cut the glass. One you get a one good line split, you use the q-tip, rubbing alcohol, and toothpick to lift and roll the film from there.

I'm reluctant to advise the extreme method of removing the screen protector by super gluing another sacrificial screen protector on the one that's stuck. This would give you leverage of simply pulling the stuck film using the glued on film, but there's a possibility the cyanoacrylate in the super glue can melt or leech through the film, staining the glass.
