Hardware Ideas on fixing a damaged ribbon cable

So I have a switch lite which the back light does not come on.
Opened up and it had water damage and the ribbon cable connector has a damaged trace.
I have attached a picture, I have scraped a little of the plastic away so it could be connected but how??
Any ideas please.

3 options that I can think of:
1. replace the LCD and backlight with a new one (easiest option)
2. use copper tape and make a new pad and join with solder
3. use a conductive pen to draw a new trace

thanks, screen prices have come down but trying to hack it before buying new :)
tried copper tape but its so thin its just not sticking and thats before I even try to slide it into the connector.
Ive never seen a conductive pen, going to have a google now
