Good afternoon!
This is my first post on this forum, so im sorry if there is any problems in redaction (as my main leng is spanish) but I really need help with this
So, I went to Nintendo Chile official repair center, told them I've had problems with drift on the left one, signed a few things and left both controllers there. After a while the whole virus affair started, and they stopped answering to my emails and never picked up the phone when I called them.
Strange thing, but oh well. I drove to the repair center to ask for them, and they told me their call system and unit center had failed because of internet or something (I dont exactly know how to explain it in english) and told me the joycons were good to go.
I didnt take my switch with me to check if they were alright, so that was a big mistake.
After I got to my house and tried them in, I noticed that the left rail didnt match up with the left part of the console, not letting me put it in, so only the right was usable.
Now, I dont exactly know what is wrong with the joycon, just that if I try it on the right side it fits, but backwards...
I really want to fix it, but I dont know what is exactly wrong...I have called the repair guys at least 8 times in the path month, sent emails and they dont answer anything, so your help would be really appreciated ˄˄

You have to check that the joycon has enough space on the part that connect to the rail, why is the left joycon on the right rail?

Huh? The left joycon fits backwards in the right rail :wtf: Is it possible that the repair guy installed them the wrong way round?

Probably, but I am not completely sure about that, as the arrows on the bottom of the joycon rail are the correct way? Honestly I cant even imagine why it fits backward on the right instead of the left lol
The funny thing is that even if it is badly connected, it charges lol

Putting the left joycon on the right rail is just wrong, it is different that it is hard to slide the joycon in, than putting it in reverse.
It isnt even "Hard to slide" on the left side, it is straight up impossible. I know it is wrong to put it on the right, but I am asking why I can put it like that and not the other way around in the left side, where it should be... It fits really easily on the right side
I dont even know how hard they fucked up

Unless the tech put the connector on the wrong side, left joycon won't go in all the way on the right rail unless your super force it, which would be hard to take back out.

Here you are, sorry for the bad quality
That's okay, I can't see the pins; are there pins there? Also I don't know how much of a difference it would make but you might try pressing the black button that you use to release the joycon and see if you can slide it on with the button held down.

The idiot must have put the right rail on the left JoyCon. Not sure how he managed that though as everything is mirrored so there's no way it would fit back together properly with all the screws in and such.
But I can't see how else it would charge when in the right slot. Using the right rail on the left JoyCon means the rail is flipped when using the JoyCon the right way around but with the JoyCon upside down in the right slot it becomes the right way around. But the ribbon cables going to the rail would have their connectors upside down and have to be twisted so the pins face the right way, the screw that's supposed to attach the rail to the back shell would just be screwing directly into the back shell since the hole on the rail would be in the wrong spot, things likely wouldn't line up properly, there are so many things that would make it obvious you were doing something wrong. He must really be an idiot.

I swear i havent charged the joycon (mainly cuz i have no idea how to other way than connecting it to the switch, and it lights up and has charged up to 15%
So i suppose there is no easy way of fixing it?
Also, correct me if I am wrong, but arent the left and right joycon rails different? Like, one ribbon is larger than the other?
How can you fuck up that bad?
The thing that bothers me the most is that i cant contact them. There is no way: I have tried everything...

99% sure that the tech put the right rail connector on the left joycon and vice versa on the right joycon.
Funny thing, but the right joycon fits perfectly where it should :(

Probably want to check the tablet then one side might be stiffer than the other, so one joycon might be easier to put in than the other side.
But then again, why is it charging on the other side?
I doubt it is the console, mainly because i havent opened it, and i would have noticed if it was uneven.
Everything was fine before the repair, everything fitted perfectly and so on

my joycons can fit backwards too like in that video, so it should fit on the other side just fine, and it is fitted the correct way round otherwise it wouldnt be screwed together flush. check if the switch its self has and gunk or anything on the metal part of the switch console and clean it with a cotton bud, id check the rail on the joycon its self to see if its got any nicks or anything that would stop it sliding down.
as i said, it fits backward just find so it seems like its an issue with the switch its self on the correct side

It can be charged on either side, it is the rail on the joycon communicating with the tablet's rail. If the rail was damaged it won't communicate. Forget about the charging part you need to take a look to make sure that the connector part of the joycon is seated properly, to tight it won't go into the rail, too lose it would easy to take it out of the tablet's rail.

I was trying to swap mine to see if I could get the left to fit right side OR to get it to fit, backward, proper side, and upsidedown/proper side doesn't allow them to slide down. Presuming each joy-con has an upper and lower half, something was put back wrong, of course, Not even sure how that would be possible unless the rails themselves are possible to separate from the upper and lower shells of the joy-cons too.

but even worse, there's a good chance someone else out there has the very same situation (because they have the same parts interchanged)

Sounds like someone came to work with a hangover...
