Hello guys and girls,

I received a O3DSXL from someone who tried to install Luma. It starts normally but when in the homescreen it will always freezes when trying op open an app or Settings. I have to hold the powerbutton or remove the battery to shut it down.
Closing and opening the lid, Recovery Mode or NTRBoot results in blackscreens. Turning Wifi off does not resolve the issue.

GM9 could be entered and I used it to uninstall the CFW. Results are exactly the same.

Any tips on how to resolve this? My apologies if the solution has already been posted but the ones I've seen revolved around Wifi being the cause which seems not to be the case now.

I've seen something like that on my test console after a bad downgrade/upgrade process. Never found out the reason and had to restore a backup image.

You have now successfully locked yourself out of any further possibility to troubleshoot the issue from the software side. Without B9S there is nothing you can do from software perspective (maybe updating with recovery mode – don't know if this is a good idea). Try reinstalling B9S… which brings us to this part:

Finding the cause for ntrboot problems is a pain. It can have many reasons and the result is always the same ("Does not work.")
Try the process of elimination:
  • SD issue: Another SD containing only boot.firm (SafeB9SInstaller) and the necessary files for installing B9S once again.
  • Flashcart and/or gamecart reader issue: Your flashcart in a known good 2|3DS console.
  • Magnet placement/power: Is the magnet strong enough and positioned correctly for reliably triggering standby even when pushing buttons.
Removing the battery for hard shutdown is not a good idea.

Good luck!
