How do they get away with using the sprites of other companies?
You can read in the video's description: "The pre-rendered assets are under the copyright of their respective owners - Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite and are only used as illustration."
Thanks.

lol @ music in YouTube video ‍♂️
I confirm that it's ironic, I could have used one better but you know YouTube's ContentID restrictions. At least it's better than CC Zero musics haha
@iriez The free version of Gen7 Engine is available here on the download link

"It has more to give than you think" has got to be the most depressing, self-defeating, low-confidence slogan I've ever read.

Glad to see you like it. I will make sure next time to let you choose the slogan, to make sure you'll feel it less depressing.
You can keep on eating your Doritos meanwhile.

Hey iyenal, I have a general question:

As an exclusive Gen8 owner, would switching to Gen7.2 be an upgrade?

Hello my dear friend dht,
Beforehand, I would like to thank you for your very interesting question. After deep consideration, I have found out that the Gen8 naming resulted in a major fault from our R&D team. So we have decided that Gen7.2 would be a way better number, to show the feel of upgrade compared to previous versions. Feel free to ask any other questions related to questionable namings.

But your Gen8 version will still be maintained until newer versions.

Oh, that's fantastic! As far as I can tell from what you said about switching with the numbering system, would there not ever be Gen9?

I am not sure about that. When we consider the future currently, we may enter in few months in a global crisis thanks to the Covid-19 so it's possible that we jump directly to Gen20 to forget about 19 or less numbers.

Ah! I see. Samsung has done just that with their new S series lineup, skipping every number between 11 and 19. Wouldn't you fear it's gonna confuse people if you just randomly up the version number that far up?

You got the idea.
It's a potential issue we have seriously considered too, and after looking on multiple examples like for example the jump from Unity 5 to Unity 2017 that seems an obvious no-sense, we figured or forgot people are already lost enough on what's even Gen7 initially that this name confusion produces negligible effects.

I understand that, but isn't it a little weird that we went from Gen2 (I always think of gentoo when I type it), to Gen3, and so on up until Gen8, and then just went down to Gen7.2?

I completely understand your frustration about that.
You know, sometimes, you may think that behind issues are considerable explanations, but in most of times it would fit in a hand palm.
As you know, the oldest platform Gen7 Engine supports is the Wii that is the 7th console generation. So it started with the name Gen7.
But with time, I've worked so much on Gen7 that the number 7 key on my keyboard broke.
So I had to reset the counting to 2 (at the time the Xbox One released so to not create another confusion Gen One got skipped) and skip 7 until I bought a new computer, to develop the newer versions based on Gen7 thanks to that new keyboard.
It's a little like how we moved from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, it just caused an overflow in the designers' Illustrator.

That's an interesting backstory! Up until now I believed it was just a joke with the "Install Gentoo" meme from 2013, or is that true?

Haha, I see you are a man of culture. Anime didn't took over yet.
You're right, I was aware of that meme so I thought it would be a good idea to insert it as a hidden reference, so at least now everyone can get its existence.

Some people report a failure on setup because of a "font file not existing", an error I've never experienced on testing VMs so I will look onto that as the engine should patch itself to fix that, but it doesn't happen on some computers.
For now, I'll provide a manual patch to fix that issue.
