The rules apparently need reiteration.

If it's in a use-case of "abc site died, or abc site owner got sued, or abc site is down atm, or abc site owner owns 200 cats, then you can say the site.

If you're asking someone, "where i get my roms bro, i dunno how google works???/" then no, you cannot say "abc site name has BOTW xci and its updates, go there". You cannot link it, either.

Rebranded is dead as of a couple hours ago

Nintendo is like a drug-sniffing dog

LOL no.. They might ends some sites of roms/isos but there are many blackmail anywhere. You will have to know where to find them. It is not going away any time.

I say it's not "illegal." If you insist that it is, please cite the statute that makes it illegal.

What google search term do you suggest to minimize the garbage that would be returned?

Armenians don't know much about American laws, do they?

As for DarkUmbra still being around with a new name, that's complete BS. Because no Canadian would ever be dumb enough to get a cease and desist letter from Nintendo's lawyers sent directly to their home address using their real name and then just re-open the obviously-infringing site under a new moniker. I mean that would be like begging the judge for actual prison time in addition to restitution. Nor would Nintendo just settle out of court with someone like that. No, DarkUmbra's admin is certainly not that dumb.

I just joined the "software" one version of darkumbra. Have to test it more but it actually seems better than DU, only 1 thread per game so it's not a mess like DU, they also use direct links so no more annoying ads.

Let's hope they don't take down this one too.
If you found it, Nintendo will to.

Can I offer a friendly suggestion? Half-rules are a slippery hill. If you're going to go this route, don't confuse people. The rule should be something along the lines of "If the site offers illegal software, is not the main topic of discussion and is active, do not list the name." Not only does this let you discuss current news without being smacked, it makes more sense and doesn't leave any room for interpretation.

For instance, your current rules allow me to say "DarkUmbra is dead, but DankSoftware hasn't been touched yet". I know that your intention is to avoid leading folks to piracy directly which is why no one is being hit by mods for word play, but ultimately it just leads to confusion or allows someone to troll. Allowing someone leeway to interpret is how you have these issues.

Its weird but i get it you dont want to be sued but come on this site is a enabler to piracy it may not post links or direct to illegal copies but it does contain info on how to circumvent ones device which is illegal even if its just for homebrew

Hacking your console isn't illegal. You are just breaking TOS. Whatever you do behind closed doors is by the user choice thats where the illegal argument comes into play. Its the same thing for Emulation, the emulator is not piracy tho it can enable it by choice.

I hope this precious site dont go anywhere. All those Roms sites, Forums, etc from like the 90s or 00s has been falling one after another and Nintendo is in the frontline taking em down

Is Sad but youre right. If YouTubers that do Tutorials, etc are getting their channels killed and they themselves getting sued then I guess is just matter of time for GBATemp to disappear.

I know a website that has been operating for years selling roms (digital downloads, pre loaded hard drives, etc..) they removed all Nintendo related stuff from their website but everything else (playstation, xbox, mame, etc..) is still available.
The reason is because they don`t want "attention" from Nintendo!

It's not like Switch has a worthy library to pirate, if it's not for the WiiU ports. Switch will ends up with SMO and 1 2 switch plus indie garbage

Best trolling I've seen in a while.
Don't worry. I won't feed you.
It's not trolling when it's true. The Switch library is horrible & the quality of exclusives is horrible. Exclusives look good, but they have no substance. Take Zelda Breath of the Wild for example, it looks good but it's literally one of the worst game in the series
