I updated Atmosphere / Hekate today, along with Tinfoil, only to realise Tinfoil 8 onwards does not work with Hekate.

I'm quite frankly a novice when it comes to switch homebrew, and normally require guides to make sure I don't do anything wrong. Would anyone be willing to walk me through how to safely uninstall Hekate and either replace it with Atmosphere's vanilla bootloader, or a compatable bootloader for Tinfoil 8.10?

It's simple:
Instead of chainloading the hekate payload, Chainload fusee-primary.bin from https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere/releases (assets)
do this every time you want to boot atmosphere and it should work just fine. Also, use these sigpatches
https://gbatemp.net/threads/i-heard-that-you-guys-need-some-sweet-patches-for-atmosphere.521164/
if you are not using them already.
Also, you don't need to uninstall hekate, just don't boot atmosphere with it. you can still use hekate itself just fine.

Purely so I don't misunderstand, by chainloading, you mean the payload I put into TegraRcmGUI? I'd replace my Hekate.bin file with the fusee-primary.bin you just mentioned a moment ago?
And yes, I made sure to have those sigpatches on my Switch.

You probally used the tinfoil 8 by itself vs the whole combo. The best thing to do is use the piratepack that has evreything you need I ran into that problem a few days ago. You have to use the hekake build its very easy to find on the net

PiratePack is outdated, it's not maintained anymore and it probably uses an older Tinfoil or TinfoilMod, both are unsupported.

I don't need any files other than Fusee_Primary? Not even on the switch?
Because, when I inject the .bin file, it loads it Sept, then gives me the regular Atmosphere screen, then nothing happens.

All you need for booting atmosphere with fusee-primary is a functioning switch + the atmosphere and sept folder.
I think there might be an issue with your setup.

Try this:
Backup your current atmosphere folder (if it has anything you value inside it)
Delete the atmosphere and sept folder (do not overwrite, delete)
redownload atmosphere and extract it to SD
extract these sigpatches to the SD https://gbatemp.net/threads/i-heard-that-you-guys-need-some-sweet-patches-for-atmosphere.521164/
and chainload fusee-primary.bin

I'm very sure this will solve any issues you might have with your setup.

That sorted everything out perfectly. I've got TheHBG/Tinfoil up and running now.
Are there any recommended shops to add to Tinfoil? Maybe a list of them? xD

It is against the site rules, and I'm pretty sure there are none compatible with HBG.
and you might wanna remove that link.
All I can say is don't use any other source than discords. Most of the other available sources which aren't discords suck.

Ah, it didn't show up as a link to me. But fair enough.
I'll keep an eye out.

Is there a guide to actually chainload from Hekate? (What your saying above is to not use hekate)
I have my trinket booting to hekate and then to Fusee but tinfoil 8 doesn’t work. I want to keep hekate as the boot loader as it’s easier to using the tools (achieve attribute) which as a Mac user I need a lot

So, normally you'd inject the hekate payload, right? You literally turn your console off entirely, download the Fusee and inject that as your .bin file INSTEAD of Hekate. That will boot you into the console and allow you to install Tinfoil 8. I'd recommend uninstalling any previous Tinfoils before you try this.

(At least, that's my understanding of it, and it worked for me)

yeh that's not what I'm after, i need hekate but to chain load fusee primary

As far as I know, if you load up Tinfoil V8 onwards, when you've booted through Hekate, it will be unable to read the NAND.kip file and will try to make a new one / restart (neither of which work).

With the bootconfig from the link, hekate read the kip file and tinfoil+hekate works without fusee chainload.

Actually, you CAN use hekate to chainload fusee-primary, and it does work, at least when I tested it when 8.00 released.
Below is a hekate_ipl (bootconfig) I have definitely not stolen from somewhere else.
In order for it to work, you must place fusee-primary.bin inside bootloader/payloads/
Then copy this text to bootloader/hekate_ipl.ini

[config]
autoboot=0
autoboot_list=0
bootwait=3
verification=1
backlight=100
autohosoff=0
autonogc=1
{------ Atmosphere ------}
[Atmosphere emuMMC]
payload=bootloader/payloads/fusee-primary.bin
icon=bootloader/res/emu_boot.bmp
{}
{-------- Stock ---------}
[Stock SYS]
fss0=atmosphere/fusee-secondary.bin
stock=1
emummc_force_disable=1
icon=bootloader/res/stock_boot.bmp

Also, if you want atmosphere on eMMC,
add this below the {} in the atmosphere section:

[Atmosphere SYS]
payload=bootloader/payloads/fusee-primary.bin
emummc_force_disable=1
icon=bootloader/res/sys_cfw_boot.bmp
{}
