honestly, idk. ive been out of the loop for awhile so i don’t really know what i can do with it. when i first hacked my switch i was told to keep my firmware as low as possible. is that still the best advice?

Well yes. If you want a proper coldboot exploit. A lower firmware is always the best. Else some people keep Sysnand clean to play online etc. but keep Emunand full with the nasties, so sysnand is always clean.

would it be possible to use my emunand like a clean sysnand for online etc and keep my sysnand at 3.0 then or is that detectable by nintendo?

On 3.0.0 you can reboot to a payload from OFW, they’re also not super common nowadays (+ their nands have some neat factory stuff if you’re into that :P), so I wouldn’t update it (at least not without burning fuses).

Yeah, you can use an emummc for normal stuff, I do it all the time.

I'm not sure of the answer to this, but I wouldn't risk it. Either way, it's unnecessary. Update your sysnand using ChoiDujourNX and use autoRCM to keep your fuses from burning. That way, you can play online in sysnand (assuming you're wanting to play online) and still have the ability to return to 3.0 . And don't forget to do a NAND backup if you haven't already.
