Hello
I come to ask a question sorry for my english i'm not good :s but on French forums I have no answer.

I have Sx os 2.9.2 emunand(hide partition) and switch 9.0.0 SD Fat32 samsung evo plus 256go
I have several games in XCI / superXCI (2 games of 4go and 3 game of 8go or more)
With my games -4go I can play without installing but with my games over 8go I can not launch them without installing I have an error message
"reading the game board has failed remove it and reinsert it" if i install the game it's good it works
i use XCI Cutter for split my games

Do we need to install games over 4gb?

thanks for the help in advance

Xci splitter is so you can get files over 4gb installed. XS OS needs to see a single file to launch it on the fly

If one needs to install the XCI files to play the games of more than 4go. installing big games is easier in NSP than in XCI.

they are better to install XCI or NSP?

It doesn't really matter the question is do you rather install the xci or mount the xci like a cart game.? Installing xci is pretty much the same as an nsp
If you want to play games over 4GB without extra steps, backup everything on your SD card and format it to exfat. Then you can play games over 4GB without splitting.

thanks for your help but the fat32 is better than the exfat. I don't want to have a corrupted file.
So I'm thinking of downloading NSP for big files and XCI for small If installing XCI is the same as a NSP.

Thank you for this help maybe a future update of the switch that will not corrupt the files in exfat

DO NOT format micro sd to exfat. Best thing to do is get a small portable harddrive and format to exfat and install any size of game via usb by plugging it into dock. Better than removing the sd card every time you want to install a game or update.

No problem file corruption doesn't just happen randomly its usually generated by user error like using homebrew dumping games, or messing with ram/code editing. If everyone backups their SD card to a PC like they should then file corruption would be the least of their worries.

it is also easy to install a nps game with goldleaf than to copy paste an xci.
I was able to read a lot of people who had the SD card corrupted by copying a game

a person on another forum "After these real I still have a shiver when I put a game on my microsd being exfate it is already corrupted twice in the year. : /"

after if an xci is really cleaner than a nsp. is there way you can easily copy the game save ?

You cant always believe what ppl say here. Like most ppl here use atmosphere and despise sxos all together. copying a game doesn't cause sd corruption. Worst case scenario he just had a bad SD card or needed formatting. I use sxos with exfat ever since they released it last year and never had a problem. Fat32 is reliable for homebrew, but ppl who say exfat will blow up your SD card just to play games are just fear mongering.

yup emunand supports exfat as well thats what im using for sxos. I would choose the SD file emunand instead that way you can back up your emunand very easily.
Hidden partition is great for faster boot time so its really up to you on what you want.

one more question
for game upgrades we install the NSP or we do a superxci?
That depends if you know how to build your own superxci if you don't then nsp would be more simpler and faster. Superxci means it comes packed with updates and dlc along with the game. Personally I would just mount the xci to play instead of installing it your wasting SD card space installing xci when you can play them from an external HDD

FYI:

Been using a 256GB SD CARD since almost day one on exFAT when EmuNand was an option, have been copying/deleting XCI files (all sizes) on the SD CARD like there is no tomorrow, I don't use homebrew apps and haven't had a single card corruption.
