I just bought a psp 1001, 2 32 gb sd cards, and 5 photofast cr-5400 adapters (you might know where this is going). I formatted both cards to fat32 then put them in the adapter(s) tried all of them and not a single one works (by not working i mean the red indicator light just flashes nonstop and the psp cant even tell the card is in there). But, i also found a 32mb ms pro duo card in a camera i have and tried that and it works every time i put it in the psp.
I know other people have posted a similar problem but they were all able to fix it just by formatting the card in the psp. The thing is, when i try to format it the psp just says no memory stick inserted so i cant even do that.

Most likely bad connections - replace the memory stick socket (or the wifi card, which on the PSP-1000 is replaceable without soldering and includes the former)

Of course, if you're unlucky it's somewhere else on the motherboard...

I cant or dont know how to because i looked online and psp firmware 1.50 cant connect to internet

You can use a game on umd that is known to have a firmware update on it. A list of such games 'should' be here :-

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_Portable_system_software_compatibilities

Network functionality was added in firmware 2.0 so anything from that up to 6.20 should fit on your memory stick as they are all under 32 mb in size. They can all be found here :-

Good luck.

He doesn't have to be on 6.20 because he has a psp 1001. 1001s can have permanent cfw on any firmware.

I never implied he did. His requirement was a firmware version under 32 mb in size. I just pointed out some options to help him.

Solved the problem
Just in case anyone has the same problem, just update to 6.20 firmware then once that is done it should be able to read the adapter so you can format it then update to 6.61 then do whatever you want

And remember the older the firmware update, the smaller the file size
