This rumors are strange, but some youtube guy stated that "pro" model will have probably some custrom chip not from NV since they not follow Big N on social media. But even if it got latest revision of chip that was mounted to latest Shield Pro have better scaling options than previous

Any non-NV chip is unlikely to play current Switch games. They may go this way for Switch 2 but something non-compatible has to be a good way off.

and it would chip-wise be backward compatible to "legacy" switch games, I can see this work out how xbox 1x and xbox 1s works out their differences via resolution scaling

the new 2021 zelda game will probably be compatible to both original and "pro" switch. Original running 720p-480( or whatever low resolutions in undocked mode) and the new pro running 4k docked and coming with some sort of native 1080p screen.

just like how wii u games are scaled to 4k via emulation with cemu( super mario 3d world in 4k 4 player couch co-op is my favorite btw)
this would be the best and smartest approach for nintendo

Any rumor saying they’d use a non-nvidia chip is automatically fake.

Yeah, reminds me when I was kid and there was one that always said that their dad or someone in their family worked for Nintendo.
My uncle who works at Nintendo says we’ll get a Switch with a all new nvidia tegra SoC that has an 16 core CPU that runs at 5ghz, a GPU with 20k cuda cores that runs at 4ghz, 32gb of LPDDR7X ram, 8k240hz OLED screen, and only runs on 5 watts.
Believe me plz.

If it were a "New Switch XL" kind of thing with the Tegra X1+ i would even take in consideration but this is ridiculous.

its not going to be a nv chip because of the following

1. because of the bad taste of the x1 in a month with the almost day1 hack
2. the new Nvidia shield tv is using the mako version of x1 that's in the switch lite and revised switch
3. the tegra tech is 5 years old so a new switch is needed by 2020 as the switch is already very limited and chipset is limited to what switch is now in terms of upgradable
4. Nintendo is making an emulator for the pro switch to emulate the old switch environment so it will play current switch games

I mean, it's normal for nintendo to have upgrades. new 3ds, etc., though the 3d had an incredibly long life. It'll probably depend on how well the switch does against the xbox 10 and ps5 as to when a new switch+ gets released.

All they need is to keep the same architecture and it'll mostly be native with some small translation, rather than emulation. Are there any new kinds of tegra chips that'll work? I don't know much about Tegra arm chips and what's new/useful.

If "pro" is just supposed to be a mid-generation upgrade, not a true successor, then abandoning Nvidia is inconceivable, yes. You'd need an incredible power jump over Tegra to "emulate" it and it would also be a ton of work in terms of new architecture for again, a mere mid-generation upgrade. And if you're suggesting that they will fully move to OG Switch-incompatible software in 2020 or 2021 I don't know how to say how absurd that is. Console gens wind down when sales slow and not a moment sooner, Switch is on the rise this year and there isn't much reason to think that next-gen static boxes are going to suddenly kill it.

As mentioned there's plenty of untapped power in the current Tegras with how underclocked the Switch is. If they just stick that chip in a roomy box with a heat sink they can raise the resolution of existing games to at least 1440p. It won't look that good aside next-gen or even the pro versions of current gen, but it doesn't need to, because Switch has built a large software library and there will be enthusiasts that want their Switch library to look the best it can on a TV, as well as cheapskates or the uninformed that are going to balk at the $500-600 of true next gen and go for something cheaper that can play new games in "4K."

1. Mariko is basically flawless security wise
2. You do realize that Mariko can run at significantly higher speeds while having lower temps and power usage? right?
3. See above.
4. Bullshit. There’s absolutely no evidence suggesting they’d do anything like that.

4. Bullshit.

1. you do realize its mobile tech, not desktop means you have to keep update it for it to keep up to its desktop hardware home consoles
2. hackers have tested what a switch with almost shield clock speed and it barely makes any differences and even with Mariko there not going turn up clocks any more than what hackers have done to balance the power usage where the shield doesn't need to worry about this. which is why the new shield is 25% faster
3 any next switch needs to be able to play the old games and since Nintendo has access to source code they can make a non-resource heavy way to play them
4. currently we are only getting first-party, previous-gen third-party games and only few current-gen third-party games so the current switch is already at its limit

why are people ok to buy a new phone every year but a game console needs 5-8 years lifespan? the switch is a mobile device and is on year 3 with 5-year-old hardware
