I think theres a need for a new xci splitter. the most useable one atm is similar to one like this one
https://github.com/choss/java-xci-splitter/releases
https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/XCI-Cutter

but it's not perfect
- the batch process doesn't allow you to set an output folder. - so it just outputs to source dir and this way just makes the process slow when you read/write at the same source and then you have to move the outputted files to where I actually want it
- sxos and nx method need to be kept for better support
- more compression/trim methods added (nsz)

thanks

Why? Use exfat

Or do you mean unpacker, not splitter?

Maybe you should learn to code and then you can mod it however you want - to your specific needs. Failing that, you could always pay someone to make it for you.

Source code is here - https://github.com/Destiny1984/XCI-Cutter and you can mod that however you want.

Last edited by mrdude,
Mine hasn't corrupted yet and I've been using ex-fat since SX made their SD emunand
If you use homebrew that writes to the sd card - such as atmosphere or anything that writes logs - and the app crashes, you can corrupt the data on the sd card if using exfat, fat32 works differently. There's a write up on why it happens - I can't remember where - probably on the switch wiki page.

The best way to handle it IMO is just use an external hard drive formatted to exFat and throw your XCIs on it, keep your sd card Fat32. You can easily install the XCIs to the sd card from the external hard drive using Tinfoil without any need to split. Or you can just install them from your computer. There is really no need to put them on the sd card before installing.

That would be why I've had no issues then. I currently don't use much homebrew, mainly just XCI or NSP games...

hey i m no urnalist lol but i m not demanding it i just put it out there if someone who can code want to give it a go i appreciate it

Corruption is less likely on fat32 cards as it has dual file allocation tables, one gets corrupted it replaces with a backup.

Exfat does not have this feature so if you use shitty homebrew that crashes OR anything else that crashes whilst writing to the SD it can result in corruption (stick it on a PC and do a scan to fix)

To the OP convert the XCI to nsp and inatall with gold leaf or bettwr still just use 2 cards 1 exfat for installing and 1 fat32 for homebrew?

1. the windows error check usually finds nothing

2. I have 1 exfat card for dumping and 1 fat32 for main use
