Netflix's 'The Witcher' TV series first official trailer looks fantastic

“There is never a second opportunity to make a first impression.”
― Andrzej Sapkowski, Author of The Witcher series

You've played the games. You've read the books. You... hopefully haven't watched The Hexer. But now it's finally time for us to see Netflix's take on The Witcher. Season 1 of the new series will be 8 episodes long and, as stated by executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, will be heavily based on the Sapkowski books that chronologically take place before the games. The series is set to release later this year.

not to mention the lore being thrown out the bin
Having read all but the last two books myself I'm curious as to what you mean by this. Most of the scenes in the trailer I recognize as happening within the first few books. I don't see how you can say at this point that it's throwing the lore out the bin.

Ignoring you asking if I'm "high or something" I respect your opinion. I'm just curious.

If you didnt see anything wrong with the trailer in regards to the lore then you clearly did not read the books. I'm not gonna bother listing down everything wrong with it because you're probably just waiting to report me for """""being racist""""".

Damn looks awesome assuming you're not a pretentious retard trying too hard to sound educated or woke about it.

Sad some people don't understand how to just be entertained by entertainment and instead over-analyse everything into mediocrity.

Will definitely watch.

Why he has one sword? The Geralt in the games have two swords. (Also, there was a Polish TV series released between 2002-2005 based on the books - years before the very first game in the series.)
In the books, Geralt usually keeps his silver sword on Roach's saddlebag. He uses his iron sword more often. I'm sure he has both though.

So I assume you're saying that having black people in the Witcher constitutes as "throwing the lore out the bin"? I've read the books, I know canonically there are no black people in the world of the Witcher but does that matter? I don't think the color of someone's skin "throws the lore out the bin", it's the same character, they're just black, it may be a minor bit of lore breaking but that doesn't change the story in any way shape or form so it's a complete non-issue.

Dark fantasy lives and dies by compelling narrative and rounded, complicated characters - that's why stuff like "Berserk" or "Song of Fire and Ice" (Aka "Game of Thrones") are considered modern classics, after all. So, over-analyzing comes with the genre :)

Did I miss the second sword? He just carried one?

carrying both swords is more of a convenience factor rather than a story factor for the games. He'll typically only carry the steel swords(for humans) and pull out the silver sword when necessary(usually a contract to hunt a monster)

man, just like a kotaku/polygon headline. wew
>happy thread by someone who’s excited for the series and is giving off positive vibes

Is THis KoTAkU?!?

Neutrality is always key when it comes to reporting. That’s for certain. The newer magstaff should certainly be taught this. That way you avoid biases when you’re telling facts, and you prevent coloring your reader’s opinions. But if someone being just a little positive throws it over the edge into clickbait, then I think the internet needs to redefine how it handles titles.

Polygon clearly would have gone with a title like, “New Witcher trailer looks awful due to too many WHITE PEOPLE” and Kotaku would have been, “New Witcher trailer is out, but watching it causes CANCER!!!” Is it a mistake? A little bit. Is it comparable to Kotaku/Polygon/etc? No way.
