Hacking Formating SX OS emuNAND

Hey guys

Is it safe to format the emuNAND, or would that corrupt the SD card / sysNAND?

If you remove the sd card and your console still works then whatever you do to the card can’t affect the console.

You need to explain what you are trying to achieve so we can better understand and assist?

What EmuNand are you using? Emunand as Hidden Partition or Emunand as files on microSD?

Emunand as Hidden Partition: Format On PC
If you format your SD CARD, it will only format the DATA partition, not the hidden partition.

Emunand as Hidden Partition: Format On Switch
On the Switch => Options => System => Formatting Options => Format microSD Card, if you use this option, this will format the ENTIRE SD CARD, the hidden partition will also be deleted.

Emunand as files on microSD: Format On PC
This will format the ENTIRE SD CARD.

Emunand as files on microSD: Format On Switch
Same as Emunand as Hidden Partition: On Switch above.


SD CARD\Nintendo <= This folder contains your profile, saves, eShop games, updates, etc... on your SysNand.
SD CARD\Emutendo <= This folder contains your profile, saves, NSP installs, updates, etc... on your EmuNand.

So if you have important stuff on your SysNand, this is the folder where all the info is kept: SD CARD\Nintendo
Someone needs to confirm, but I'm not sure if you can copy/move the Nintendo folder to another SD CARD or not? same goes for Emutendo folder.

Are you being serious or just trying to up your post count?

As Emunand is stored on the micro SD card - do you not realise via common sense what you said?

I thought people were computer savvy nowadays - obviously not, the reason there's so many switch bricks is because of people like you, you should probably stick to using OF. Reading your post, you're only one brain cell away from needing watered and pollinated.

Wow, @mrdude has some very big issues.

I try to get a clean emuNAND that does not have anything from my sysNAND. I know how I can delete the emuNAND of course, but I don't know if I can "reset" the emuNAND without having issues in sysNAND.

If you want to FACTORY RESET EmuNand, yes you can do this, I have done this a few times on EmuNand, this will factory reset EmuNand ONLY.

Not a problem, it's the way you worded your question in your first post and I can see how people might read it incorrectly, what you should have said is along the lines:
I want to clean my EmuNand, will FACTORY RESET my EmuNand affect my SD CARD or SysNand? Would have been a better approach to your question.

If I have emunand and some xci games on my sd card, can I use the same sd card for switch eshop games? I am running out of sys nand memory and was hoping Nintendo wouldn't mix up emunand nsp installed games with my legit eshop games installed on the sd card. Note: my sysnand is squeaky clean

On SysNand, if you install legit games, it gets stored in the default "nintendo" folder on the sd card.
When you create EmuNand, it creates a folder called "emutendo" folder, anything you install in EmuNand will be stored in this folder.

SysNand and EmuNand are separate, installing NSP in EmuNand does not show up in SysNand.

Thanks that makes sense. I guess my only concern was whether Nintendo could place some check while reading eshop games and bust you for having a emutendo folder and other homebrew stuff

No problems, as far as Im aware, there are currently no checks put in place to check the contents of your SD CARD.
They know what goes on in the hacking scene and would have put this check in place a long time ago, however that could change. Then comes the privacy issue, are they allowed to snoop on your personal files on your SD CARD?
Until then, go nuts and install nsp to sd card.
