I have a 3ds xl cfw but no longer have access to the sd card used to hack it what do I do?
This depends on when you hacked the 3DS. Hopefully you have Luma on CTRNAND so the 3DS turns on without SD card. Hold (SELECT) while turning on the console. On the top of the upper screen it should say:

Luma3DS v??? configuration

For versions ≤ v7.0.5: upgrade from A9LH to B9S
For version = v7.1: update B9S
For versions ≥ v8.0 : Put latest boot.firm (Luma) from this 7z archive into the root of your SD.

For the latter two cases repeat the finalizing setup. Note that the finalizing page assumes you to already have boot.3dsx in the root of your SD.

It says Luma 3ds v9 when i hold select and turn it on so would I do the same as version 8 that you suggested?

Edit : I followed the finalizing setup for the luma 3ds cfw but I can’t get the sound hax to run for Homebrew it says can’t play sound hax file but my 3ds does boot up and seems to me working properly can any one help ne figure out the problem I’m having running sound hax for Homebrew?

You don't need to run Soundhax if you have Luma. Please follow the Finalizing Setup page of the guide.
